Goldfren Brake Pads

Are they any good?!

I have Tokicrapo 6-pots and I'm going to strip, rebuild, fit braided lines and new pads.

Bendix pads are about £50 for a set of fronts, Brembos about £60 and Goldfren £30 including the rear caliper.

Used for road, touring and trackdays.

Anyone got any relevant experience?

Have tried many brands on the few bikes i have owned and found SBS Pads to be the best i have ever used.

Hi

Have them in the ZZR600 at the moment. They are working OK (not superb, but OK), but do seem to be wearing quite quickly.

Good pads, always fit well, happy to use them on all the pad changes I do.

Hmm, for the sake of a tank of fuel I'm very much debating going for SBS (45 delivered).

These calipers need all the help they can get.

Id pass on sticking them in the 6 pots.

Your best bet would be to source some 4 pot nissin calipers from an old gsxr/bandit12. Then the goldfren pads work quite well, you dont have to strip the things down every 2 weeks and the overall braking power is mucho improved.

Tried a set on my Speed Triple and didn't like them - felt 'wooden' compared to my usual EBCs. Might've just been personal taste as they passed the MOT brake test so should've been ok...

I used to use them until a pair I had just dropped the whole braking surface after about 200 miles (on the rear). To be fair it could have happened with any brake pad but then with a bit of digging I've found I can get EBC pads for roughly the same cost so that's what I do now.

i've been using them in all my bikes for years now. Used them on trackdays too and never had a problem with them.
as said, there good enough to lift the back wheel at any speed, what more could you want

Bendix are the best pads I have ever fitted on my busa with the six pot Tocicos. I wouldn't fit anything elso on that dueing to it being underbraked at the best of times. Expensive, yes - eats discs, yes - stops YES!

Goldfren sintered I have fitted to my missus ER6-N, her life insurance is paid up

Actually they are fine on that !

Got them on the Firestorm, they seem to be holding up pretty well and seem pretty good overall as far as stopping power is concerned. I've never done a track day with them (or at all for that matter).

used them in 3 bikes - found them fine in the zx6r tho the 6 pots were poor anyway so felt no different to whatever was in there before - use them on track absolutely fine no problems at all - enough stopping power to lift the rear under hard braking. Find them a bit wooden in the gixxer - a bit "on/off" but no real problems once acustomed to the way they bite.

Good enough for my liking to not justify forking out twice as much for a more well known brand.
