The canine kind not the human type Thumbs Up

What are the legalities of this and what is the best way to transport a small dog on a motorbike?

Add 2 wheels to the bike, a bigger engine and seatbelts.

A car in other words.

I'd rather not have a dog trying to panic its arse off while I'm riding on 2 wheels Laughing

They are quite happy to ride on bikes and are willing to observe all the necessary legal requirements.

Suggest a suitably modified topbox with peep hole might be useful perhaps mounted on the pillion seat?

Here's one option a strap:

Years ago I watched a documentary about an Assuie sheep farmer, his sheepdog just jumped up behind him on his bike and rode like a human pillion, amazing!

What, the price? Piss take was my thought Rolling Eyes Maybe it's the "ventilation system" that makes them so expensive to produce - ie, the little zip on the side Confused Or is it the custom art work paw prints? There must be sommat to justify the £128 on top of approx manufacturing costs Confused

And by the looks of it you need a tank cover to fix the bag onto which is available to buy in there shop Shocked

Why not just modify a large 'maxia' style topbox into a sort of dog basket with a hole for the head to emerge? You could stick his blanket and all that in there and maybe mount it on the rear seat for proximity.

Their ' supposed ' to be researching a pet trailer, other wise you'd have to adapt existing ones.

I hoping to pick up a 2nd hand one in the future for touring with dog in toe.

Think I'd feel happier with him in a top box on the back seat

Oh, I was thinking more small to medium Staffy.
With a little peep hole for the head and some cushioning inside a large box it could be pretty comfy and secure. Plus he'd be next to you which may allay a lot of fears.

I've seen a guy whose done this, he also uses a fly-screen around the peep hole so he has a doggie fairing of sorts. That is using the normal rack. Could probably adapt something to have it right on the seat would be my preference.

My conclusion beside 2k for the mono trailer, was a rack extended back onto pillion, with a fabric pet carrier on top.

Sounds good, when you say 'fabric' pet carrier not too sure what you mean? Something with an internal frame?
I would have thought something rigid that would keep the dog stable and 'still' while allowing for a degree of movement and letting it settle down would be necessary.
I thought a large square-shaped top box would do this well.
