I wonder if you can get an ipad 2 on upgrade with a phone contract, as that would be better.

sorry should clarify that this applies to the ipad. not too sure about the iphone.

It supports mpeg4 and .mov files by default but there are loads of decent apps that play many other formats

It doesn't have any card reader slots so you will have use something like iTunes or drop box to load them on to it, unless your jailbreaking it

I found putting videos onto an iphone 3 a total nightmare. You had to convert them to a specific size, bit rate and frame rate is a certain format. Then load them on using itunes. But if you tried to do that from a computer without your music collection on it wiped your music collection.

Also what do you mean by connecting to any wifi hot spot? You can connect to open ones or ones you have the key for just like on any other wifi device. Outside of city centers there are almost no free hot spots. If you pay BT or O2 or somebody you can piggy back on to their hotspots, but they are not that numerous and certainly not enough for doing business on the move. 3G data has better coverage, but it's still not great especially on the move. I just spent 3 hours on a train and managed to load about 4 web pages
