Bought a bike 2 weeks ago and now I want to tax it.
Green slip was given to me when I bought the bike but like an idiot I've gone and lost it Crying or Very sad
DVLA havent sent the new registration doc to me yet.

Can I tax the bike by filling in a V62 in my name at the postoffice (And paying £25)

Stu

Assuming you can't tax online now as you have no doc reference?

True. Bike passed its MOT today and I want to insure and tax it on Thursday. I can print off the insurance certificate and take to the post office with the MOT, a V10 (Application for tax), and V62 but I dont know if they will let me tax it.

The V62 has a section for the new keeper to enter their details and to explain that I've lost the green slip but I dont know if thats just for DVLA to use ?

Nope, sorry, AFAIK you need a V5C or the new keeper supplement. Unless anyone's aware of a tricksy way to do it?

You can do the tax over the phone as long as it shows up as insured and mot'd on their database. Just state you've ordered a new one.

You can't tax it without insurance anyway, so you've got no chance.

I had this problem recently and couldn't find a way around it ended up waiting 5 weeks for the V5, used to be possible with a V10 if you filled out the V62 at the same time but the rules were changed 3 or 4 years ago.

Ethel! There's a chap here trying to give me money in return for a little paper circle. Insists that I take it.

Lawks, Mabel, sounds like a wrong 'un, call the Naysayer General and get the rules changed, pronto.
