Checked out the lineup, don't like any of the bands and the tickets will likely be overpriced

I used to like download, I went in like 05 and 06 and saw Black Sabbath regroup, it was sick

Last year I went to O2 wireless fest in london hyde park, which was also pretty sick, The Chemical Brothers ftw!

I do enjoy them, but mostly for the excessive drinking and meeting like minded people

Otherwise i dont like the 'metal' fests - I'm more of an electronics and beardyman type fan Thumbs Up

For sale. 1 slightly abused and battered soul.

Price: 1 ticket to Sonnisphere or one ticket to Sunday nights line up.

Contact Pinky for details.

Crying or Very sad

Chances are I wont be at this one. Just like I wasnt at the last one, Or the one where Rammstein headlined but Faith No More I saw way back in the day when they were support for GnR in 92 and they were better than the headliners. First time I had ever heard of them and they were that good that no one cared that GnR were a couple of hours late getting on stage!

I blame that dork Axl Rose

GnR played at download (well not really GnR as only axl was the original member)

They were late, sounded terrible and Mr.Rose's voice has certainly gone, sounded like a crack head

Velvet revolver however were AWESOME

Slash and Duff Thumbs Up

Sonisphere is too expensive (although you can come to the same conclusion about most UK festivals).

I'd rather spend the money over the course of the year going specifically to see the bands I like rather than pay cunt money for a camping pass, stale beer and shit food to stand in a field hoping the weather holds out while waiting for a band I actually like.

That's not just it though.

Like Download, I don't pay for my tickets but I happily would do. £200 for five days camping with your mates, most people are wrecked almost 24/7 on alcohol or drugs, loads of bands you like and a lot more.

You don't even need to buy anything there really, the people I camped next to last year brought a 25 litre drum full of vodka which lasted them all weekend and you eat stuff like pot noodles/sausage sandwiches if you eat at all because you ingest so many calories in alcohol and you are doing other things so you just forget to eat.

In my opinion, £200 is nothing for five days of absolute hilarity with your best friends and loads of people you don't know but are just as funny whilst seeing loads of bands that you really like and being introduced to some new bands you may like and loads more.

It's not just the bands, it's the experience. I understand it's not for everyone though.

I saw that tour in '92 when it hit Gateshead. Soundgarden, Faith No More, then Guns n Roses, probably the best gig I've been to.

Not sure when we'll next get to see a live gig, not sure our five-month old would appreciate the noise. Laughing

Axl was to blame for the most part. But the truth of the matter was the Use Your Illusion Tour was one of the biggest tours ever in the history of rock. 194 shows over 2 years and during that time the band all but tore itself to shreds. Axl was an egotistical maniac but his vision for the band wasnt shared by the rest. The rest of the band were happy to do the LA club scene that they had been doing but Axl knew his band could become massive. Oddly enough he was right, GnR in the Appitite and Illusion days were the biggest band in the world. With that came the excesses of drink and drugs. How they survived the tour at all is still a mystery. Izzy left half way through the tour to be replaced by Gilby. Half of the time the band were there but not there due to drink and drugs and behind the scenes the band just didnt want to be a part of it anymore.

By the time the tour was completed the band had nothing left and for want of a better word, couldnt stand the sight of each other. The gap between Appitite and Illusion was something like 5 years, in that time the money made on Appitite was used as only a rockstar can use it. They had spent 5 years wasted by the time they had to go on tour and some of the tour footage shows this.

I was lucky enough to see them when they were all there. The show was amazing, even if FnM were the better band on the day. but you only have to look at the Paris show to see how bad things had became for the band. Steven Tyler joined them for Mama Kin and Slash fumbled his playing a little. Axl looked drawn and hollow eyed for the most part and the Tokyo gig they ended up releasing on video was just as bad.

Only band I'd remotely be interested in seeing is Cypress Hill. I mean Kiss ffs? How many of the majority 16-30yr old attendees even fucking know who Kiss are?

I'd only be going for Faith No More and Mastodon.

Bet then I'd be going in the hope that Mastodon play most of their older stuff but, like most bands, they're only going to be plugging their latest album which I'm not really liking thus far.

On the flip side, seeing Faith No More would make my day, but I'm not paying all that money to see 2 bands that I like.

People do say that it's not just about the bands at the festival. This may be true, but thats what you're paying most of your money for.

Me and a few mates managed to grab some Saturday tickets for Reading a couple of years back. This was probably the worst festival experience I'd had so far as far as the music was concerned. I had to suffer Ian Brown and I'm not a big fan of The Killers. We al wished we'd managed to get tickets for the Sunday as Radiohead were headlining. This would have made up for the piss poor Saturday.

We did have some fun meeting random people, getting wasted and sleeping in the car for 3 hours and stopping for an obligatory Burger King on the way Home.

Of course, NOTHING has come even close to Download 2006, I managed to see loads of bands I'd been wanting to see for years, met some cool random people, had bacon every morning for breakfast had an epically huge tent to sleep in and, to top it all off, we had some fun with the riot police on the last night.

Good. Fucking. Times!

was stuck between Soni and Download last year, went to Download in the end because most of us couldn't make Sonisphere, this year I've got my 5 day camping for Download on lineup alone, not saying Sonisphere has a bad one, just I would prefer to see the bands playing at Download. Plus its 15 minutes down the road to Download so perfect ferrying distance for alcohol/shower Very Happy

Many of them.
We played Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4.
Iiiiiii wanna rock and roll all niiiight! People love kiss because they're like football songs, you can chant dumb lyrics with lots of people.

But personally nah, not worth it.
Download was awesome when i went (when it was £127.50 for 3 days)
5 days? Wat? Pretty sure it's 3, unless they've changed it and really whored out

Although actually, i guess you could camp early come to think of it.
yeah.

N ya download is right near me also (Leicester) Thumbs Up

No chance I'll give cash to the shyster money grubbing arseholes at Sonisphere again. I don't particularly appreciate being treated like a gullible fool and get really offended when people attempt to manipulate me with half arsed lies.

Sonisphere has fucked it this year, the lineup is shite and they took the piss announcing it, I believe it was probably Downloads fault as they have pulled out all the stops for all the anniversaries that are being celebrated, it looks past immense, though I do love the Sonisphere general vibe and the location more! The only band I personally would see is Marilyn Manson because they (he?) are/is the only band thats anywhere true to the previous years in all honesty, though they were never going to beat last years lineup!

As for the money thing, it is very expensive but as I don't have holidays abroad and this is a common interest between friends I rarely see, I'd pay the money every time. Also getting the chance to meet bands is priceless, like remember that time I met Rammstein and stuff Blue, you remember that? Oh no, cos you weren't there Wink Laughing I won't be able to make any festivals this year because I'll be doing my basic training for the Army at the same time as every UK festival (Sad) but if I had the choice I would go with Download, and if they weren't on the same weekend, Rockness, just for something different!

Though I will admit this is all my (and a shitload of others on the FB page) opinion, it will still sell out, the headliners have massively dedicated fanbases and besides theres always a furor at first over the lineup (remember Biffy last year?) but people go anyway, silly people!

But Adam Lambert? No chance. Thumbs Down

I am inclined to disagree with this one. Friday night. Chase and Status? Prodigy?

At a rock festival?

Now I'm not the smartest peanut in the turd but even I know that dance acts have no business being in a rock festival. Its bad enough that Pendulum tend to fall into Download every couple of years but 2 dance acts back to back opening what at one time used to be Monsters of Rock, one of the biggest rock events in the world.

Saturday night, Metallica doing the black album from start to finish. At least they got a rock band for the night. But the Black album is not their greatest peice of work and they are only touring it because it was their biggest selling album and its their anniversary. Master of puppets was by far a better album. Kill em all was better. I'd even go as far to say that even Justice was a better album than the black one.

Biffy.... well dont get me started on them. Rock band they are not. Were, once, but not now.

Tenacious D I cant get on with but fair enough they are good live and funny. The best band on Saturday night by far is Trivium.

Sunday seems to be the better night. Sabbath, Soundgarden, Even Anthrax making the bill. Proper rock for the final night.

Sonisphere may not have the massive guns that they have had in the past years but their sunday night line up looks like it would be worth going to.
