Nope. You'll be the first. Laughing

But seriously, many people on here have. They are hondas and are called 'Bros', what more could you want to know?

this the one i saw on search that's had a myriad of problems? yeah i wont haha.

What would anyone suggest in the same power range and price range as an alternative if the bros aint up to par?

Will be taking restricted test mainly down to money and not really wanting a big powerful sports bike, just something more powerful than my 125 so I can keep up on motorways/nsl dual carriageways etc

There aren't really a lot of bikes that are natively in that power bracket. Most (all?) other road 400s are over 25kW, so you're looking at 250s - YBR, CBF, Ninja 250, Hyosung GT/GTR - or smaller, or restricting a 400cc+ bike.

I've been very lucky and happy with an impulse purchase GPz 305, but I couldn't recommend it with a clear conscience because of the potential oil pickup / pump issues and the prohibitive cost of replacing the drive belt.

might look at some 250's then as well, not keen on a 400+ restricted as it'll likely be more weight with less power than it should have? think i'd prefer something to run at the power it was intended to run.

I'll check out those 250's you listed. Thanks for the info Thumbs Up

I don't reckon you could get a better 33 bhp bike to be honest. They're quite grunty and don't feel all that slow (and I had one once I'd already owned several bigger bikes so not comparing it to a 125). They're nice to ride and handle ok. The build quality is just incredibly good too and they're ridiculously cheap. Mine was immaculate, £500, never gave me any problems and I sold it for £550 (could have got more but sold it to a mate).

Totally agree, a cracking 1st bike. I got my better half one when she passed her test and she loved it. 1st run out on it she came back with a grin claiming it does over a ton! Shocked When her restriction ended I got her a 400 super four and she hated it, so now shes got a 650 bros and all is good in my world! Still plenty of spares about and wemotos will be your best friend.

I started out on an NTV650, and if the Bros is similar in character, I'd recommend it.

Downsides - they are fairly heavy, which isn't a problem unless you're stationary / hefting it about in garage etc. and the gearbox is fairly agricultural - the right oil makes a difference.

Have a look at https://www.hondantv.co.uk/

I owned one for years and years - a cracking first bike as someone said.

I don't think you could do much better for 33bhp.

The Bros is a great bike in both its 400 and 650 form. Thumbs Up

Also consider the Yamaha SRX400, and the Suzuki SG350 Goose. Two more bikes that only make 33bhp so don't need restricting. Smile

Yes, I owned and rode my Bros for over 4years. Loved that bike, really enjoyed riding it everywhere, loading it up with panniers and camping kit and going to rallies.

Fab bike. Thumbs Up

Looks like the bros are around £700? think i'll keep an eye out for one then when i've done my test. Much cheaper than what i've found the 250 bikes mentioned.. how much would i be looking at roughly for a SRX400?

Too much. SRX400s are hard to get parts for over here.
I looked into buying one some time ago; they're fun bikes, but when the exhaust system goes (and it will), good luck with replacing it.
Pity really, they have the potential to be great fun.

My Bros cost me £330 but needed a lot of work. I love it a whole lot more than my restricted ZZR, but haven't been able to get it back on the road since I blew a valve seal in September. Expect to pay £500-700 for a decent one. Wouldn't pay much more than that.

One thing I will say it that it is a small bike. While it will do 2-up it isn't fun (even with my upgraded rear shock). Think about this when you make your decision.

good bits of info here, cheers all!

Not so bothered about going 2up as i don't have any friends.

ha na, the mrs has zero interested in ever getting on a bike for some reason, or maybe it's zero interest in getting on a bike with me.

Sure i'm not that bad though, guess i'll see when i do my test!
