Hello all.

On numerous recommendations I ordered said alarm today, the non talking version of course. I don't plan on wiring in the immobiliser or the remote start at all.

Right I park my bike in a public car park away from my office during the day, meaning I won't be able to hear it if the alarm goes off. If it is triggered, does anyone know how long it will continue to sound? Obviously if it was just going all day that could be a problem.

Does the alarm have to be armed, or can you simple choose not to arm it?

Finally, I know you can change the sensitivity of the alarm, but exactly how sensitive/unsensitive are we talking. The bike stand in this car park is next to a walk way, so lots of people could potentially walk past. There are also bikes coming and going all the time, with loud exhausts and such, will this trigger it?

Sorry, lots of questions, but with the bike out of ear shot I just wanted to clear up a few things. Mr. Green

I have this alarm on my CBF, and I haven't bothered wiring in the remote start or anything, just simply because I tend to leave my bike in gear Laughing so lets try and answer some of your questions Thumbs Up

The alarm will continue to trigger for around 10 seconds or so, but if it disturbed again within a short period of time, it will sound for longer with a more rapid alarm sound.

You can choose not to arm it if you so wish. I don't have my alarm armed all the time. you get a little key fob with it that has all 4 buttons on it... Alarm Arm, Alarm Disarm, Remote Start and the "Bike Finder" function. That last one can be quite good fun Wink Laughing

My bike actually need to be moved to set the alarm off... Viabration shouldn't set it off by itself, ofcourse it depends where the alarm sensor is mounted. I have mine mounted just underneath the seat, so if someone sits on it with the alarm armed, it will let me know and they will jump off Laughing I have also heard that the alarm gets pretty sensative if you mount it underneath the tank Thumbs Up

Hope this helps! Thumbs Up

Don't wire in the immob and it wont set itself.

Just connect red wire to battery and black wire to frame. You wont need anything else Laughing

Cheers guys.

I'm still a bit concerned as to how long the alarm will sound once set off. Will it go indefinitely, or is it intelligent enough to just shut up after a set amount of time?

If you're feeling really helpful Joe, you could go and sit on the CBF with a stopwatch Mr. Green

It's another thing to go wrong, and the vast recommendation is not to wire it in. Considering I'll be doing it myself, I'd rather not risk it turning on me to be honest.

Goes off for between 15-20 seconds constantly but does shut up and arms itself again. Immob is about 3 wires and piece of cake to do, I never bothered. All they have to do is cut the wire to the siren or snap fuse and wheel away and remove those wires anyway Rolling Eyes

Cheers Paddy, that's what I wanted to hear.

I'm just not bothered with the immobiliser. I just want something to add another layer of security, scaring off pikeys who want to sit on my bike. Being a bright green bike with 'Ninja' written all over it, chavs seem to think its gods gift to the world, so just need a way of telling them to back the fuck off. Mr. Green
