Of course you can lie about it. If they're daft enough to lower TPO prices significantly based on security, then more fool them. The chances of you getting caught are minimal, you'd be looking at a third party claim made against your policy after the bike was blagged and ridden into some coppers and kittens. Worst case, you could buy the claimed security after the fact, and even then only if they send a claims adjuster out to check.
Whether you should do it or not is really up to you to decide. Me, I wouldn't, because it doesn't make any significant different to my quotes. But if I were your age again, I reckon I'd have done it in a heartbeat.
If you're risk averse, what are you doing on a bike? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

See comments in other post;
The irony of insurance; when you cant afford it; that's when you most NEED it!
If you are struggling to find the extra £120 to get TP+FT cover, pretty good bet, if the bike gets nicked, you ent going to have the cash to replace it, are you?
On the 'Its not worth claiming - they'll only rape on on your next premium' dabate; pretty much the same deal.
Meanwhile; if you are seriously taking out Third-Party Only cover; that does no more than give you a certificate to keep the coppas quiet;
These locks and chains you want to declare? You probably NEED them!
Little bikes get nicked! They are far to easy to steal to begin with; far too attractive to opportunists. So if you don't get insurance to replace it if it's nicked; you better make damn bludy certain that you chain the fecker down to make it the last one they try taking! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

You can always lie about what you have and what you don't have, unless the insurance companies find out. Generally top insurance companies don't care about that much. |
