I am all for doing training 1 - 1
CBT for £356 or 3 day DAS for £798 anyone?
No? OK looks like back to 4 - 1 for CBT and 2 - 1 for DAS then
(3 students on the road with 1 instructor is only allowed during A2 and post test training.
CBT and DAS must only be at a 2 - 1 ratio on road.) ____________________ www.angliaroadtraining.com

I guess I was the lucky one then, I got my CBT 1-1
Self taught myself on the tests though, so I can't really comment on that.
I would have self-taught driving too, but you can't do unsupervised L-plating, and insurance is a joke!
If I wanted to insure the 850cc car we've got sitting on the driveway (which hits 80 if you're lucky), 6.2k. If I want to insure a 'busa, 5.5k. ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

Guys who trained me at aintree racecourse I found were genuine lovers of riding and wanted to give me every possible chance of surviving on our lovely roads of today. Whenever I went out on the road for big bike lessons, it was 2 students max. They stopped every now and then, were critical of anything dangerous in our habits. Add the fact I'm deaf and couldn't use any voice comms, they still took me on.
Considering they have to pay for maintainance costs, petrol, bikes, gear, [assume a fee needs to be paid for being a instructor?] managing the books, taking appointments, booking appointments for tests, remembering each student and their riding ability, it is pretty much a fairly high stress managers job in my eyes. If they really are earning 40k a year, I reckon it's deserved.
Course, if a school puts 5 students on the road, many as possible at a time. Then that's pretty clear they are in it for the money. ____________________ Mod2 Passed 30/03/2011!

You can't even tell the difference between 2 and 3, so I wouldn't fancy your chances running your own business.
While I usually spunk out the "Training is for queers and tarts" line, I do really feel for bike training schools. They've had a tough time of it, and next year is going to be a real ball breaker.
At some point the DSA might have to start running CBTs directly - let's see how much it costs then. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
