No, because the gas is already inside the suit, all be it inside your body...

Physics FTW

Arguably, your body is generating the gas during the dive. So the act of farting doesn't make you more bouyant but the generation of gas does.

If you fart in your drysuit, however, you do run your woolly-bear through the wash when you get home.

The answer is complex.
Yes.. You will become more buoyant as most guys know a fart can have a Potential Reactive Ambient Pressure (PRAP) range anywhere from between 5 PSI to +6000PSI (@37.6 C).

Any of you submariners out there (who are also bikers) will be familiar with the fact that releasing a compressed gas into a larger volume will provide more buoyancy.

So yes. If you hold a handful of farts in before your dive and then let it rip whilst under water you will float to the surface.

***Warning*** this could promote an embolism or bends so, in reality, a harmless fart can become life threatening if conditions are right.

farting in a drysuit is nothing, I know people who have pissed in their survival suits on the chopper. Sad thing is they need to wear the same suit on the way home Laughing

So if I fart enough on my bike in my onsie, I have the potential of becoming a hover bikeist :thik:

I've never noticed any adverse effect on my buoyancy by letting a a couple of sly ones go during a dive. I have however run out of people willing to unzip my suit for me at the end of a dive.

This may be Off Topic.

It might be worth channelling that 'Wasted Waft' into the air-box as a sort of half baked NOX device.
Costs nearly nowt. A bit of air tubing (out of a fish tank) lubed and poked up ya bum hole. Feed the hose end through a cut/incision made in your leathers and tee it straight into the inlet manifold.
The shot of methane should, in theory, boost the combustion figure a few %.
