Alarm Bells?

Hello,

Am considering buying a Triumph Street Triple R. I like the look of this one (link below) but am slightly nervous due the ridiculously low mileage (an 18 month old bike with just 165 miles on the clock). Does this ring alarm bells for anyone else? Surely it means it isn't even run in.

Would love some opinions from board members as I am a relatively inexperienced and my heart often rules my head when it comes to purchases.

I would have thought the tyres would be the biggest give away of whether it's genuine mileage or not, that few miles the tyres should look brand new. Bit hard to tell from the photo's he's taken.

There could be many reasons why the bike has not been used.
HM Forces, works abroad etc.

If you like the look of it, contact the seller and ask to speak to them on the phone. Person to person contact will give you a better idea of who and what you're dealing with.

Go and look at it, you're not required to buy it if you don't want to.

Go and see it.

Those photos look good, but they don't show hardly any of the bike. That makes me slightly suspicious.

If you want it, don't bid unless you've seen it in the flesh in daylight and had a chance to properly examine it.

Should be easy enough to tell if it's genuine. The chances are it is unless the clocks have been changed for new ones

I haven't got many miles on my bike because I work abroad. I only did 2000 in the last year. A couple of hundred in 18 months is a bit ridiculous! More money than sense maybe.

If you want company to go and have a look, I am local (Milton Keynes) & have a street triple R bought from Woburn Triumph as well.

To be fair, if I was going to clock a bike, I'd clock it to 1000 miles, or at least 600 miles so it was run in.

Garaged, another bike sitting next to it, battery charger plugged in, a Land Rover to sink his time and money into - looks like a serial hoarder, probably veers from one mid life crisis to the next. Suspicion Meter reads "minimal".
