Just took my shiny new bike for a spin, first time since CBT at the start of Feb. I've passed my theory as well so just have to do Mod 1 and 2 now! Very Happy

I'm not gonna say which bike I've got...since I was an idiot and got an impractical bike that a lot on here would frown upon Wink

The roads where I live are nice and twisty, and I got a bit of a shock on the first sharp bend after my house where I didn't have the courage to lean and went on the other side of the road Shocked after that I started leaning more...so much so that I was scooting my bum off the seat, putting my head by my mirror and putting my knee out! I was loving it! XD I reckon if I had pads I could knee down next time Twisted Evil

Only reached 70 on a straight, so I'll be holding up some cars during my time on this bike I think...didn't really go over 40 on the twisty bits.

I'm looking out of my window at the bike now thinking 'shall I just have another quick go then?' XD

I'm using an old shoei helmet I found in the garage...lucky or what?? Dont have anything else though, except Lidl gloves £13.99 - bargain Wink So I need some protective clothes, but other than that it's all good Very Happy

sounds like you had a blast mate! go on tell us what you've bought im sure we've all bought a bike we probably shouldn't have as our first ! (Me included, and ive not regretted it once!)

As for knee down etc as nice as it may be i'd probably advise not trying to lean too much if you don't have protective clothing, i'd never ride my bike without leathers etc nevermind try to get my knee down.

Keep it rubber side up and enjoy! It is nice weather today afterall

Glad you're enjoying it!

BUT, don't get over confident, you need to build your skills up gradually.

A proper jacket, boots & over-trousers are important.

Good luck with getting your knee down; on my CBR you catch the footpegs long before your knee touches the ground.

Rieju RS2 125 Razz I wouldn't choose that colour, but beggars can't be choosers and for 900 quid there aren't many 125cc bikes in full working order Razz

How many bikes did it used to be? Wink

Looks neat, keep it rubber side down, don't ride faster than your guardian angel can fly, drive to arrive, and all that other stuff that you won't listen to. Razz

You'll need sturdier boots or the The DSA Man will be all like "Man, no way, man" when you rock up for your test, is all that I'll say.

Well that's just not true now is it. You wanted a tarty sporty 125, and there aren't many of those for 900 quid, unless you want a skinny CBR of course.

A bit of advice, please get your helmet checked, or just get a new one. You finding it in the garage must mean it is several years old, could have been knocked or dropped, and could therefore prove to be less than useless in a crash. Not to mention it probably isn't the best fit for you. Your head is worth more than that. Oh and some other kit would be good too, especially if you're hooning it around at speed on the country roads.

Yeah, I'll be buying a helmet and gear asap, but it'll do for now. And you say that, but try finding a ybr/cg 125 with MOT for under a grand? They're out there, but it's quite rare.

May have to give it another shot. That catching the footpegs moment was an "o shi..." moment; I've not been that low since. Laughing Well, not quite. I was coming out of college the other week and we have this lovely sweeping corner. It has the bonus point that you can see perfectly around it before you go on to it. I went round that quite low and had my rear tyre start to slip out from under me, which was a little scary.

Quick hi-jack: does anyone know the correct tyre pressure for a 2004-CBR125 running Pilot Sportys (wont be having a pillion)? Till now I've been going on "Eh, it feels okay." But it's felt a little less stable than I used to know it to be. I had been putting it down to bad weather, but I should really check them.

It wouldn't be that hard, and there are more options than just those two.

But anyway, please do make the helmet a priority. A cheap but well fitted helmet is going to fair better than an old, dropped, badly fitted helmet, even if it is a Shoei.
