just for like forward planning etc,

how much should I ask for the sale of my Honda City Fly? (roughly)
Runs with no problems but has a few cosmetic downers (some I will fix/replace)
Basically there's a dent in the fuel tank and the front mudguard is cracked, indicators don't look all that pretty. It's had new front tyre and new chain and sprockets recently.

Thanks!

We'd need a lot more information than that really. I bought mine a year ago for £700. Cosmetically it wasn't great, but it ran perfectly. I recently part exchanged it for £500 with no MOT and needing a bit of work.

Personally think around 800-1000 depending on overall condition. They are fairly rare bikes, but keep an eye on eBay to see what sort of money they fetch on there.

all positive in my eyes then! got it fairly cheap as was owed some money by an ex who let me have the bike instead (she was a financial mess and wouldn't have been able to run it for years)

It had been stood a while but replacement tyre, cleaning out the drum brake and an oil change and it's fine.

3 owners 2002 model registered first in 2003.

As long as over £500 that's cool Very Happy will go towards next bike in a couple of months.

I'd +1 to eBay. Have a look at what other bikes, with similar condition/mileage/age, like yours are fetching. Then choose a price accordingly Thumbs Up

When I come to sell the CBR, it's getting advertised for more than I want. If I get it then great, but the buyer will think they've gotten a great deal when they "haggle me down" to a lower price (i.e. the price I actually wanted). Whether that will work or not I've got no idea, it'll be my first time selling!

List it too high and people with think of you as a dreamer and look elsewhere - seeing 10 year old 125s listed for £2k on gumtree springs to mind. Be realistic, think of it from a buyers point of view and list it at a price that reflects it's actual value, not it's value plus £1000 for the "tastefully customised paintjob and fake carbon heal plates" or whatever.

Every normal sale (i.e. not eBay auction) ends with haggling, have a sensible price in your mind and stick to it, anything over that is a bonus.

I bought my first one for £600 with 1 month MOT, needed some work but ran!

Written off for £1095.

The second one I bought for £200 and fixed up sold for £600 with years tax n test.

Probably would have got more had the engine not been so noisy, but I'd stick up for 750 and take 700 for it.

I'd imagine a working Japanese 125 would always fetch around £500. Get up some pictures and we'll have a better look, but eBay will tell you what you want to know.

Prices for little bikes will probably start to rise soon, the weathers gonna get nicer and people will want to be out on a bike rather than sat in a horrible car.

Bike is completely standard, but yes I agree with being realistic. I was thinking if I wanted £1000 as my base-line, maybe list for £1100-1200.

Cheers for the advice on listing price etc!

I'll try and get some pics up later but it needs a proper clean really! ('ve a week off coming up so going to make it spotless...then muck it up again 2 mins later)

it's only done 11k miles which I'm lead to believe is pretty low for it's age?

11K is nothing for a good little Honda engine. Mine had 13K on it and felt like new.

Mine had 28,000 at time of dying.
Engine was fine, bike was smashed into pieces but I hadn't serviced it ever and I had done 6,000 miles in under 3 months on it.
