Have any of you seen this little beaut on ebay?

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110830900676&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_881wt_1185

Thats a waste of a perfectly good bike. Its been sitting as a showpiece since it was brought over to this country.

Bikes should be ridden not framed.

Reminds me of Manx TT Superbike on the Saturn.

And I still wouldn't pay £30K for it.

Should be down to Honda to keep a pristine condition like this for the museums, I'm inclined to agree with you, probably quite a few peoples dream bike, could have made some very happy riders.

The listing says he hopes it goes into a collection, I hope someone buys it and takes it to a track day and rides the nuts off it. Hopefully send him some pics of it in action too Twisted Evil

I hate nostalgia, especially to that extent! If I was the euromilions winner Id buy it and crush it, then send him one back with 80k on it!

£30k? Must be joking!!

30k on something you can't even use is insane! If you're just going to sit and look at it you may as well buy an 80k (miles) bike and tidy it up a bit!

If I had millions I'd happily buy it and keep it in my front room unused along with a few others (750SS roundcase, Maico 500, 250S1C etc...), and have a big garage full of ones I'd actually ride. Whats wrong with treating it as sculpture, particularly when a painting was on the news last night because it went to a British gallery for 40-odd million pounds. Hell, you couldn't even sit your kid on the painting...

LOL.

Go buy it, turn it on, red line it.

Sounds good, thanks. Wheelie off into the distance Laughing

Either way thats the 2nd one in Maidstone, Lagunas currently have one, not a 1 miler though Thumbs Up I'd still rather spend £30k on 2, possibly 4 bikes and a really fast car Laughing

It's nuts for what it is, but I can see it from a collectors point of view - having it in the box is half the value really.

HOWEVER, having a Honda V4 sat there and not riding it would just not happen for me, i'd have to fire it up and ride it. If I was minted then maybe i'd have a few bikes I wouldn't ride, but still, I like riding them so meh..

Euromillions time - I'd be buying two identical brand new bikes, one would be kept stock and the other would be gradually improved - mapping/exhaust/suspension/wheels - the lot - every part put on the bike by an accountant would be swapped for what an engineer would have wanted. Then get track time and ride them both back to back and see how different it'd be. What would that cost - maybe with a pair of blades? £50k-£60k? Yeah that'd be more than double the fun of spunking £30k on something and leaving it in the lounge.

who ever buys that will keep it on a collection for sure, its very unlikely to ever be used again.
factor in it will likely need a rebuild before it could be used anyway after all this time.

However i can see the appeal of keeping it in a collection - if you can afford it why not ? most have no interest in a RC, to old and slow and not enough pointy bits on it and look dated which is fine, some find them appealing.

I am lucky enough to own a 30 and it gets used in all weather, not afraid of a bit of snow or gritted roads and it gets thrashed too like it should.

I do also own a fully restored as new and totaly original Ducati 1969 350 desmo which is kept in the house and likely to never ever be used let alone fired up. tanks never had fuel in since chroming and refinishing.

On the contrary. I bet you could fill it with oil, anti-freeze and fuel, charge the battery and it'd fire up first turn of the key. It's been kept in a centrally heated living room.

I'd probably pull the fuel pump fuse and turn it over for 30 seconds or so before firing it up to make sure plenty of oil was circulating.

A mate of mine went over to Dayotona last year and bought back his old TZ250 off the guy he'd sold it to 15 years previously. It had sat in his garage untouched under a dust sheet all that time.

They fitted new tyres, new plugs, changed the gearbox oil and cleaned out the float bowls. Then he took it for a short run, declared it to be pulling nicely and entered it in three races, taking two firsts and a second.
