So, the time has come for my long project to hit the road, yay. So in the preparation for tax I can't seem to find the V5 at all, nor the new keepers slip Embarassed . Anyone advise me how to get a free one out of them, I don't mind "selling" the vehicle to my sister (different address and surname). I hope the wonders of BCF can help as I can barely afford the £16 for tax let alone £41 for tax and replacement log book.

Thanks in advance

Use your head,:

1. Are you quite sure you have a V5 and not just having a blond moment?

2. If you know you have a V5, then it IS right where you left it. Seriously, it's THERE and it's probably staring you in the face.

It's probably in the pocket of that jacket you hardly wear.
You put it there when needing to check something on it. Rolling Eyes

Phone dvla ask if the last keeper sent the v5 to them as you never recieved the v5, they will say lost in post and send.

They will likely say "give us the new keeper's slip and we'll send one to you" Smile.

another owner lowers the resale value. Worth paying the £41 to save you more than that in the future?
Might as well try the DVLA, say it got lost in the post yada yada, if they ask for little slip ring back later and say your wife/child/friend picked it up months ago and forgot to tell you that they put it in your little draw full of random bits of paper. Worth a try...

I never had this issue..

what did you say on the phone?

I litteraly said "id like to check if the previous owner sent off the logbook as i haven't recieved it"

they checked said yes it registerd to you we sent it out on blah blah

"i didn't recieve it, its probably lost in the post"

they said ok we will send you out a new one.

I didn't mention anything about getting it for free on the phone they offerd.

I need to do this. Still no log book. Still no V5. Still no tax disc.
