I know some nice roads but I often see police there. They sit on chair with radar tool. Last time was lucky I was just slowing down when I just found them. I have a radar detector on my car but none on my bike yet.
How do you cope with these radars. They often change where to sit and wait. Do any of you have radar detector? If not how do you avoid being caught by these handy radar?

I am just lucky most of the time. Either I slow down by chance or a car coming the other way flashes their lights to tell me to slow down.

I also only tend to ride fast on quiet roads that police don't frequent and I don't ride with other motorcyclists which keeps the speed down and diverts unwanted police attention.

When I am riding on unfamiliar roads or when riding for my commute I ride a lot slower.

I found myself staring down the barrel of a radar gun yesterday, just after I'd filtered a little aggressively. At a fair slice over the speed limit.

Fortunately, I wasn't pulled over, and they didn't have a spotter who could read my number plate, so I'm thinking that I got lucky with this one.

I have been trapped three times in twenty years; each time, extra urban duel carriageways masquerading as 70mph roads with 40mph limits imposed.
First had repeater signs in the central reservation, actually obscured by long grass! Of course this was being trimmed on my return journey!
Last one... for which the points expire this August, they had decided to extend the 30mph spoeed limit 50 yards the other side of a roundabout, and stuck a scamera box on it.... aparently it cought rather a lot of 'offenders'! So I got GATSO'd for doing 55 in what a month before had been a 60!
So... apart from cunning entrapment.... which is difficult to avoid... I guess its either 'sixth sense' or DON'T SPEED

I was also lucky by now but next time... I won't be able to speed much on nice roads which are famous for riders(and for police). I usually ride alone too. I don't speed that much on normal roads.

That was lucky!

That's so annoying traps! Police here usally ignore under +10km/h and everyone drive/ride at 60km/h if the limit was 50km/h.

The trick is not to ride over the speed limit?

I've only ever seen police in towns with radar guns which are generally 30/40 limits. I NEVER speed in any 30/40/50 as it's just a matter of time before you get caught.... as all my friends are finding out.

Dual carriageways are usually vans in my area, and you are un lucky if you get caught.

On the open roads I think Police are generally a bit more lenient.

But yeah, I avoid getting caught by doing the speed limit Thumbs Up

There's a good chance they'll have a laser speed gun, so a radar detector won't be much good and laser detectors rely on an insane degree of luck to detect a speed gun at all.
