yes...it's changed for some reason - I guess plain white paper is about a 1000th of a penny cheaper for them to produce Mr. Green

Same for me with the MOT I did at the start of November, and the bike I bought today (which was MOT'd before in the morning before I looked at it).

I heard that it was the blue logbooks that got stolen and that's why they changed to the red ones.

When I got my car MOT's a few weeks ago, the garage just gave me the receipt from the chip-n-pin machine. I asked for the MOT certificate, but they told me they don't issue them any more, and only do a print-out if there are any advisories.

It's all done on line now - which makes it easier to check, and reduces the chances of buying a death-trap vehicle with a forged MOT.

Some insurance companies are also going paperless - I think Swiftcover were one of the first companies to do this, when you pay, your details go straight onto the MIB database, and you get emailed a PDF copy of the docs, which you can print out if you feel like it.

Another step closer to the day we all get forcibly fitted with ID chips Laughing

tax discs will go the same way too soon, lets face it there's no point having any paperwork, soon as they run your number plate or the ANPR clocks you they know what you do or don't have.

stupid thing is as long as the vehicle is legal and someone has insurance on it, the driver could be an illegal immigrant with no licence or insurance and electronically it wouldn't get picked up and chances are they'd never get stopped!

VOSA not DVLA

The look on the Post Office clerks face when I took in a piece of paper/MoT printout for buying road tax over the counter was a real picture. She just did not know what to make of it

When I had my car MOT'd last year all I got was a piece of paper, not a "proper" certificate.

Biking will be next to go digital.

You will own the bike but just have an address to a site that hosts the images of it...

Laughing

There are already a few on here who 'own' these bikes. Shocked

Technology is wonderful!

Soon you won't need to produce any documentation at the Post Office, but the technology is available that will not only check MOT and Insurance on-line, but also other databases - such as PNC and UK Border Agency - so if you are wanted on warrant, linked to a crime or an illegal over-stayer and go to tax a vehicle or pay a bill, you could find yourself in the company of a couple of uniformed officers on your way out - after the Post Office has got your cash, of course!

My last bike MOT was on on a normal cert last June. The wife's car was in October. My car was just the printed sheet in November. So some time around then it changed. It certainly confused me at the time.
