........ My CBT tomorrow?

I am really nervous and worried.
Like how do you manage to stay upright and not tip over?
Does it get confusing moving hands and arms and feets all at the same time?
1 foot or 2 on the ground when not moving?

Please Advise......

Kind Regards

I though you were already riding? Confused

Don't be. Calm and an open mind, it's easy stuff.

Like how do you manage to stay upright and not tip over?
Once the bike is moving it stays upright without your help. Lower-speed (i.e. walking pace) requires a little confidence from your part. It's like riding a bicycle.

Does it get confusing moving hands and arms and feets all at the same time?
Maybe if you think about it. You will more than likely get confused at one point or another at remembering what to do at what time (i.e. when to change gear, when to indicate, etc.) but that's no worries. The actual moving the feet and hands comes naturally in my opinion.

1 foot or 2 on the ground when not moving?
When not moving you keep the bike in 1st gear with the clutch in. Left foot on the ground and the right foot pressed down on the rear brake. Your instructor will explain this to you, though.

Please Advise......

Kind Regards

CaNsA

Tips for you:

Dont's:

Listen to anything the instructor says.
Lifesavers.
wear protective clothing.

Do:

Speak in chav speak using the phrases "mush", "innit", "ah no bruv".
Arrive with the attitude that you know how to ride better than the instructors.
Pop a wheelie from one end of the car park to the other.

Pull your instructor aside beforehand and tell him that you're not afraid of death and that you were born ready for this shit.

Good, bikes are shit-yourself-scary, and you'll probably ended up deaded by all that 14.6 BHP.

Like how do you manage to stay upright and not tip over?

Rollerblades. I'll explain later.

Does it get confusing moving hands and arms and feets all at the same time?

Yes. Be prepared to flail them wildly as you roll towards a tree/kerb.

1 foot or 2 on the ground when not moving?

Both feet, all the time (except for corners, then you just want your outside foot down to push you round). This is where the rollerblades come in. See, when you were younger the stabilisers were attached to the bike. Now you're into big boy biking YOU have to be the stabilisers too!

You will stall. It's not the end of the world, the bike won't fall over on you, it's just extra practise at starting the bike.

In general look where you want to go. The faster you go the easier it is to stay upright. Try to remember what gear you're in so you don't find neutral by mistake / fail to find it when you need it.
For the on road bit be cautious as hell, they hate over confidence. New road: Check mirrors and cancel indicators. Do it every time, drill it into your mind as the one time you forget to do it will be when a lorry smashes you to bits Laughing

Erm basically it's training not a test, so ask questions if you're not sure. Mostly it's about making you safe so indicating, road positioning and mirrors, life savers and stuff.
Slow riding is a sod to get right as it requires fine clutch control so expect to be crap at it. It's basically revving the bike, holding the clutch part out then using the rear brake to control your speed. I never do it on the road. Keeping the revs up high makes it easier as you'll stall less and using the back break a shit load will make up for crap clutch control.

Your Effin kidding me right?

Worried about a cbt yet how long have you been riding?

This thread is a joke right?

You've ridden a zxr4 / 6 and F knows what else and your worried about a CBT?

My sister who never rode a bike prior to her cbt passed . It isn't a test you can't 'fail'. Seriously if your questioning your ability to pass a CBT maby it was a good thing you lost your liscence. Because if you have doubts in your head about the ability to controll a bike for at a basic level of CBT then I am genuinly baffled at how you passed your test

But still, imagine being 40-something; been driving for over 20 years ... would you be able to pass the car test first time? Bad habits Smile

Yeah but thats a TEST this is BASIC TRAINING. He passed a bike test before the clump lost his liscence. If he cant controll a bike at slow speed / safely use mirrors / shoulder checks then he shouldn't be on the road and well good job he isn't allowed on anything fast these days.
