Hi Everyone,
Sorry if you get offended by thinking this is spam but my name is Dean Stone and some of you will no me or met me on here over the years as I use to ride on the road with Korn, Zimma and Andrew years ago before I broke my leg and Zimma died Crying or Very sad.

I dont post in the general section much as I always post in the racing section, so alot of you won't know me.
I have spoken to Korn about this personally and he has told me to do an introduction to what I'm offering to everyone on BCF in the racing section as Im not allowed a long-term sticky thread in the general section.

Basically this year I'm racing with East Midland Racing Association and want to fly the BCF flag proud, hopefully with a bit of your help by offering a raffle for scrubs for as little as £5 with all the finer details here:
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=240286

Obviously any donation in general sponsorship would be greatly appreciated no matter how small or large or anything that can help the cause in general.

Direct donations can be made to my PAYPAL: dean.stone@gmail.com or through the main page at www.triplesevenracing.co.uk

?? You'd have to dive through the link anyway otherwise you wouldn't know what you're paying for.

I think he wants us all to give him £5 so he can buy some brand new racing tyres, then once they're used, he can ship them to the "winner".

Well I can't think of any nobler way to spend my hard earned money... oh hang on a minute...

Jim Mc, I dont know what to say I'm only hoping for support from here as I we would like to get the forum more involved in racing.

most racers only offer a sticker on the bike and thank you for taking money, I have a conscious feel I would want to give back all my sponsors as I really appreciate any help I can get.

I normally sell the tyres to peeps from £50-70 so IF I hit the minimum I wont be making any money and its refundable if I dont get the minimum amount of entrees.

If you don't want to sponsor him, then don't. Racing is an expensive sport to get involved with.
If you're looking for sponsorship try Morris lubricants. A mate just to get enough free oil of them to keep his bike going Thumbs Up

I suppose I just don't see the value in it.

From a raffle perspective you say you're not profiteering but you're getting a fresh set of tyres from the proceeds. So you can go have a jolly and then hand us back whatever's left. We don't know what the tyres are, what condition they'll be in, you might even blow them. Then what. You've got nothing to lose really even if you have to hand the money back. And aren't part worns more like 16-30 quid? Would anyone seriously pay 50-70 for a part worn?

From a sponsorship perspective, how does your advertising BCF do me any good? I don't see your fundraising going towards any worthwhile cause other than your having a good time. That logic just doesn't add up to me.

If I'm missing the point? Then here's an idea, why doesn't everyone give me a fiver, I'll put some fresh rubber and a BCF sticker on my bike and in 6 months time someone can come and collect them, while you're on I've got about 3 pair sitting around the side of my house, so you can take them away while you're on Wink

JIM MC

Where as I agree with you that there isn't any real value in paying out a fiver in order to possibly win a set of race scrubs (I'm not lucky!). You can't blame the guy for trying to get a bit of cash together to go racing.
Its a novel way of doing things if nothing else Thumbs Up

As for the "prize" of race scrubs, don't get these confused with part worn road tyres.

Look on ebay and see what the race teams are selling scrubs for. £50 upwards for a rear and £70 upwards for a set.

Race scrubs are top quality rubber usually having only been used for a qualifing session or 10 lap race. Loads of people buy them for track days or even use on the road. The teams don't sell the tyres that are shagged...only the goodens with loads of life left.

Good luck to the OP Thumbs Up

think this makes more sense, going to companies for sponsorship - as they get a benefit from the money they give you (advertising), I can't see what good members on here will get in return for their money?
I know a few of my mates have never asked me to give them money to help pay for their supermoto racing... I'm sure if they couldn't afford it, or couldn't get sponsorshp they would just stop. simples.

Every rider in BSB, WSB, MotoGp, Road Racing etc started his or her career right at the bottom as a novice in the local club. To be competitive even at club level takes a huge amount of commitment and an equally large amount of cash. There is no prize money at the bottom and the vast majority of competitors look for sponsorship of some kind. A tyre, gallon of oil, tank of fuel, a set of filters or even the offer of a pair of hands in the paddock can make a vast difference to someone who is racing on a shoe string. Most riders offer a bit of advertising on the bike in return for some sponsorship, this guy is offering something usefull in return. If you want to watch the stars at the top then you need to help them make it off the bottom.

Most don't get sponsorship as they are too small to attract interest. For most it's an expensive hobby. Some races do give prize money. My mate did speedway along with racing. Every year he'd win enough money at speedway to fund his TT entry.
The Celtic match races down at pembray give out prize money, a decent amount too.

Thanks guys, Just to let you know the report is now in the racing section.

I'll make promise, if the raffle thing works with BCF then I promise will run a nobcat sticker for a joke but it cannot be massive for obvious reason.

If the raffle gains momentum and more people are interested in this then I will get bigger stickers for the bike as a thank you to everyone.
