Buying A Bike Without Seeing It

I've been looking a BMW F650 GS, however I'm in Norfolk, and the bike is in Aberdeen. Its a private seller, that can deliver for £150. However this would mean not seeing the bike until it turns up at my door.

The owner claims his best friend is a bike mechanic, and from the pictures it looks in good condition. Is it worth the risk? I wouldn't hand a penny over until he delivered it, but... Is there anything i should ask him to send before I agree to buy it, pictures of specific parts, copies of certain document etc.

i would just go and see it if youve got a bike its gonna cost like £30 to go and see it and then you'll be 100%

Pictures, lots of pictures if you're seriously considering this. Got a link? You'd be surprised the things members here point out that's aren't obvious.

Ive went south the last 2 bikes i bought as in flew down without seeing but after getting plenty pics of all over the bike. Close up of the swingarm shit like that, never been asked do i want delivery
which make me suspect it aint private.
Good conversations on the phone try and suss if hes a crook or a biker...well i suppose im a bit of both..goodluck.
When buying without seeing i would say check the forums for 1 first see if there's any for sale there that way you can see if its all cool and i recon less chance of getting ripped off from a BMW forum.

Think about how much you are paying for it, believing it is in good condition (or whatever condition you want it to be in) and then think about how much less it will be worth if it is in ok/poor/terrible condition. Then work out how much it's going to cost to go and see it.

To be honest, if it were sub £1500 then I'd risk it, but I assume it's not and therefore I probably wouldn't. Buying a new bike is meant to be a good experience, can you imagine how you'd feel if it turned up and was a wreck? Not only do you lose the money, but you resent the bike too.

I bought a bike from Instigator and he drove down from above Glasgow to Halifax, to get the sale.

What I have done when listing a bike, is to take lots ie 30 x 12 mega pixel pictures from all angles and then just email them.

Or why not put a post on here offering £30 from Paypal if someone who lives near could go and have a look for you.

The ebay price is about what you should expect to pay, the other two prices are very very low.

If you are wanting a GS specifically then i have a Dakar for sale, and i'm a lot closer to you than Aberdeen.
