Breakdown/carol nash/AA

So, I lost all the contents of my cooling system Saturday night on the M25 near clacket lane services.

The AA come out, agree it's not a roadside repair and offer recovery.

I opt for the onward travel option (hire car) with the included AA cover on my Carol Nash insurance policy.
Mr AA man tells me that you can't have onward travel AND recovery so my options were, get recovered to the garage in bristol with bike so it can sit outside the rest of the weekend while I walk/bus/get the train the 60 miles home.
i could leave it at the services on the M25 and have a hire car or get recovered home where I can do sod all with it until I push it to a garage to fix it.

So, I have to use my personal AA cover which does cover recovery and onward travel, I get a hire car and bike is arranged to be delivered to Bristol monday morning for repairs.

Monday morning 8am I get a call from the AA saying bike was being taken to bristol so off I head to bristol for 11am so i can start fixing it.

5pm I call them back to be told it was arranged or delivery for Tues am. Told them bike is my work tool and was told it would be there as soon as poss after 8am.......

Tuesday, 3:45pm i get a call from mate at garage, bike has arrived but where are the keys?

After a few calls to and from the AA the keys are at a garage in Croydon 130 miles from the bike. Kavanagh Motor Group.

Cheerfully told me that the keys will be delivered to me and if I dont get them in a few days to call them back.

Oh, thats ok then,. i'll have the rest of the week off due to your total fucking incompetence while I wait for you to stick a stamp on my keys and drop em in a post box

Don't carole nash recover you to home anymore?

The other year they recovered me and the bike about 70 miles to home.

In the past the AA have also recovered me to home.

What has changed?

Saying that when i dropped my Z at 1mph doing a u-turn and the alternator casing cracked, I phoned the RAC who I had free cover with the bike. To be told, sorry mate it's your own fault. Luckily I was in the AA for the car so they came out.

They would have taken me home but the parts and workshop I use are in Bristol 60 miles from where I live.

My personal AA cover with onward travel covers me getting a car and letting them deliver bike to where I want it but the Carol Nash AA cover with onward travel doesn't

Sounds like bullshit to me but still I'm left with a bike delivered 36 hours too late with no frigging keys and they MIGHT get them in the post tomorrow.

Bummer, but isn't there any garages closer than 60 miles away.

I've been recovered home and then just paid my local bike place £20 to pick it up. Tbh if I weren't injured I would have fixed it myseof.

Do you still have the hire car? I'd drive it to the garage where the keys are, pick them up and send them the bill for the petrol.

I've had fairly good experiences with the RAC to be honest, and have even seen one towing an AA van many years ago. But I've yet t actually bother getting cover for the bike.

I do all the work myself but with a fully equipped workshop with ramps, heat, tools and help if needed all for the price of sod all it's a damn sight better than doing it in the back garden in the rain with no help.

Plus i've moved a huge amount of parts to the workshop so I can do anything I need without fuss.

Tomorrows venture is changing the engine in my scoot. At least I'll be on 2 wheels then.

My bro had an off (not a breakdown) a couple of years ago and the bike was recovered home under Carole Nash breakdown cover. It was a bike specific bike recovery van and going by memory it was the RAC.

Maybe they've changed their T&Cs since then? I'll have to go and check as I'm covered through Carole Nash as well.

In my experience they are utter shite. Untrained, shaved monkeys could offer better customer service!
