I got off a rusted clapped out Chinese imported 125cc cruiser lump and onto a stage 2 race tuned GSXR750 Slingshot. May have been an old bike but Christ it could shift, and in comparison to the 125 lump it was just unreal.

I signed my bike over to the mate. He signed his over to me, asked as I was about to ride off into the sunset if I would miss the ole lump. I revved the engine, smiled and said..... Nahhh!

On the way up the A1M I was getting over taken by everything. On the way home only thing that over took me was another bike. Laughing

My first bike was an ER5. I had it less than a year and although I'd had a hoot riding it I hadn't bonded with it so much that I was sad to see it go. Plus the excitement that I was replacing it with a Fazer 600 with oodles more power.

My first car on the other hand, I shed a tear for that. I'd had it since I was 18 and it represented my coming-of-age and a freedom I'd never known before. I was 24 by I parted with it and even the excitement of the 5-series I was getting in its place could soften the blow.

My first big bike was stolen and my second was destroyed in a fire after a head-on with a car.

But my next big bike I still own and if I did have to sell it I would remember all of the good times that I have had on it (see my '36 Years of Biking' post)
