Decided to have a sort out on the PC earlier, and used Revo Uninstaller to delete a load of stuff, inluding Steam games that I'd downloaded.

After running Revo, when it asks about deleting items in bold, I just selected them, as I've never had a probalem at all with the way my machine runs afterwards. Only problem is, when I booted Steam wouldn't work, and now after a system restore it 'works' but all my games are greyed out and it wants me to download them all again.

They're all still on my HDD, so how do I get Steam to recognise them, without having to DL them all again.

I've tried verifying game caches etc.

Cheers for any help, Embarassed

If they're on your hard drive in your steamaps folder (or whereever they should be), when you ask steam to re-install/download them - it'll skip downloading any file thats already there. It won't really download anything - just verify the files are there.

Well, they're all still in the steamapps folder, but when I click on play, it starts to re-download the entire game.

Well if you'd done what you were told last night, the download would be finished now.

Thanks for the help, didn't notice smirnoff actually tell me to download ALL my games again though, Thumbs Up.

And no, they wouldn't be finished by now.

@Alpha - I copied my Steamapps folder, completely uninstalled it, and then re-installed and pasted my Steamapps folder back in, but it STILL starts to download the whole game(s). I click install and when I check the DL tab, it's trying to download the whole thing. Just cannot get the poxy thing to recognise that all the files are already there.

Handy forum tip, mate: Don't get pissy because your google-fu sucks.

I found the answer in four clicks. And it wasn't on a bike forum.

HTH.

HANFD.

Thumbs Up Mr. Green Thumbs Up

It will go to, but skip through the download very quickly iirc. Try it with one game, pretty sure it wont download the whole thing.
