Hi,

I spend alot of time online, looking for good deals, mainly on 125cc bikes, but, generally all cc types. Today I was wondering, it's common that we see such brands as yamaha, suzuki, kawasaki, aprilia, cagiva and those imports you don't really want; leximoto, etc.

With that being said, are there any import bikes you should look for? that have the looks and performance of our commonly known, awesome branded, 2 wheeled fun bags?

The new 4 stroke MZ125s are supposed to be quite a good bike.

the MZ's look far too bulky i think. Altho, I've not seen since the start of production. Nice bike to bring to my attention, as I'm looking for an on/off road type bike at the moment. thanks Smile.

The TZ125 RR looks absolutely draw dropping, I love the swing arm @ the back there. The bike above it, the Gilera... What a joke! :DDD

I MUST!! disagree with your opinion of the Gilera. Hub center steering (well, note quite but a good alternative to forks), a screamer of an engine and for its time, very futuristic looks. A guy was selling a batch of them at the Stafford classic show a good few years ago. Really fancied one but other things got in the way. If I come accross one now I'll snap it up (reasonable price and condition).

Hi

Late 1980s and early 1990s the Italian bike market was awash with quick sports 125s. The well known ones are the various Aprilia AF1s that were officially imported and the Mito, but there were plenty of others. Cagiva made the Freccia before the Mito, and before that the Alletta Rossa. Gilera made loads of models (KK125, KZ125, MX1, MXR, SP01, SP01, Chrono, GFR125, etc). Benelli made the Jarno, Hondas NS125 and later NSR125 were designed and built mainly for this market. The TZR125 shown earlier was designed and built in Italy by Belgarda (the Italian Yamaha importer) using the frame of a Japanese market TZR250 as a basis, as the normal TZR125 wouldn't have sold well.

The CX125 is OK (we have a couple of them), but the suspension isn't that great. Seems to be a fair bit of stiction and there isn't that much suspension travel. Effectively the system is just a single large diameter fork in front of the head stock with a scissor linkage to stop it spinning round.

All the best

Keith

I know. It's terrible. I really should buy some 125cc bikes to get some experience of them.

Anyone know of a Benelli Jarno for sale Wink

All the best

I've got a couple of them in the back of the shed. You wouldn't want one though, they're shit. Not even worth the effort of digging them out. To be honest it's hard to get to the shed these days, the garden is littered with rocking horse poo, hens teeth, and the path is blocked by the corpse of Lord Lucan and one of these:

Always fancied one of these even though it wouldn't be good for my sanity of bank balance.

Hi

The RGV125 (for want of a better way of describing it) does appeal a bit, although the steel frame, etc, is a bit against it.

As to the Laverdas, few years ago I came across a brand new unused and unregistered Laverada Navajo for sale (the chain was still in a box attached to the seat). Not a good looking bike but in many ways I still think I should have bought it. They were pretty rare and produced just before one of the times Laverda went bust, but used quite a few parts from the Cagiva Freccia.

All the best

Keith

Always liked these when I was 17 and riding my TZR125...much rarer than RGVs I'd say...don't think I've ever seen one actually...

So would I if I thought it was worth much more. It's in ''used'' condition.

They did a 125 and a 250 version iirc. Both look awesome and both need to be in my garage.
