not sure on the rails but hears the brake issue for you

Code:
Trailers up to half the kerb weight of the towing vehicle do not require brakes up to a maximum limit of 750kg. Above this weight and up to 3500kg. Auto-reversing over-run brakes are required on all wheels and all equipment must comply with E.U. regulations.

I think you would be better off buying one, I've been toying with the idea of getting one, but I'd have to change my car, I've got a tiny Daihatsu Charade, and I can't get a tow-bar for it. (500 quid for a new one!)

https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/erde-motorbike-rail-for-trailer-or-van/96788373

There was a proper Erde single motorcycle trailer on Gumtree for £150 yesterday, but I can't find it now, must have sold straight away.

Or do you only want a collapsible one?

Hehe!

Yeah, I'm a tight git as well, but that's all part of the fun, bargain hunting.

I think the rail would be aluminium?

If you know nothing about making trailers, then would you really trust something you had made to put your expensive bike on? I would be worried about it breaking, and spend more time looking in my rear view mirror than the road.

I would just buy a normal trailer and fit some bits to hold the bike more securely. That way I have a trailer to lug general shit around. A fairly knackered normal trailer can be bought cheap, then a lot of work put into to making it do what I want.

Or just get a transit.

Really? Confused

That would be a great way to square off the rear tyre.

I think you would need a big car/van to use one of those Vincent, or you would have your exhaust dragging on the tarmac!

Great idea, but if you are going to have a vehicle big enough to use that, you might as well get a MPV, in which case you could remove the seats and put the bike in the back.

BTW

I got my City Fly in the back of a Saxo! (had to take the front end off, 20 mins)

I also used to get my dt 175 mx easily in the back of my old Renault Extra van (Renault 5)

https://vans.autotrader.co.uk/makemodel/make/renault/stock-item-id/at8a6a050234ada7e90134c2acd0ef5338/advert

So you could easily get a bike in something like a Berlingo.

Here's my bad-boy.

https://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/251711_10150205139645606_506045605_7012276_145871_n.jpg

It no-longer has the headboard on it, as the trailer came off when I was leaving Peterborough services, coasted across the road, and into the front of an on-comming transit van. Laughing

Gave the geeza a oner to fix his van, re-connected the trailer, and finished my journey.
It had 3 bikes on it at the time.

Sturdy enough, I ever brought my R1 home on it.
It's handy now it's a complete flat-bed, as it stands up against the wall in my garage.

I refute that. No weight. No drive. Minimal wear. The rear is going to be bouncing.

Invert one of these.

Any decent stockholder will sell channel. Just make sure it is thick enough to take the weight.
