Been reading up allot on the difference between the klX and klR and the early ones it was only the head flow apparently and slightly higher lift cams.

Anyway as its 16k later and probly all coverd in coke ect, Can i port and polish the head my self? as i think i might change teh rings soon

Used to file the ports on the dt125 head ect for more power Rolling Eyes

You can do it yourself but its not just a case of making them smoother its more the shape you make the port into.

agree with Kev

the shape is more important than being smooth, also you have to balance both inlet and exhaust ports,
its all about improving flow through the engine.. Thumbs Up

There are two books by A.G .Bell, all about engine tuning which show the port shapes etc that help gas flow. I will dig out my copies and post the ISBN numbers etc for you. A dremel with the correct burrs and a flexible shaft works a treat I`ve done a few heads with a variety of tools and the dremel is nice for small heads.

If you do work on the inlet ports, don't polish them up - a slightly rough finish keeps the air turbulent and stops mixture from condensing on the walls.

If you're wanting the bike to rev faster, and you've got CV carbs, you could drill the slides out by 0.5 mm.
