The planes from the movie are shockingly bad...

Fighter aircraft generally aren't good things to have in movies unless they are simulated with CGI, it's just too expensive to get the right aircraft and in realistic numbers. When they use a single ultra capable plane it gets really ridiculous, especially since the obvious way to defeat it would be to have two waves, the first wave does some combat, the second wave would just bomb the super plane when it lands to refuel...
