Car parks are private property so I'm not so sure.

Private property but with public vehicular access, thus falling under the Road Traffic Act and, therefore, all vehicles driving on it must be covered against third party risks.

quick question as i nearly came upon this last night in tesco.

Just pulled away from a pedestrain crossing at tesco when some yoofs in a renault came round the corner way too fast (id estimate about 30mph tesco is 10mph limit) and strayed into my lane nearly smashed into the side of me, he would have done if i didn't take some serious evasive action. i got the blame blah blah but they got an earful and i rode off.

my question is, If he had hit me would insurance cover it?

judging by his speed i would of had fucked front wheel, forks, broken leg/foot and more similar damage.

red arrow me and my direction.

Mint, you're a spy with an invisible bike and you're own tracking satellite. I'm Jelly.

Also yeah, you'd be covered

You may be covered, but when you receive any type of compensation is a whole different story.

By the sound of them, they'd have blamed you for everything which means you'd have ended up in a huge liability battle maybe ending up with a court hearing? It's all pretty academic really when all your injuries have healed and the accident is long in the past.

But yes, you'd be covered. Thumbs Up!

NEVER presume the CCTV is working at a Tesco store, or any other store for that matter. It MAY have been working but since Tesco themselves are in no way involved in the incident (LOTS of disclaimers about that inside and outside the stores) then frankly the last thing they want is to get involved by providing CCTV records.

My son (on foot) had some daft woman reverse into him while he was on a marked crossing at Tesco. Her car wheel ran over his foot. To make it worse, when he shouted and folk hammered on her car roof she drove forward again - and over his foot again. She then drove off. Nobody took the car Reg number. Tesco CCTV - sorry, not working. AND my son was employed by Tesco at the time. Fortunately he was wearing very heavy boots (he was on trolly collection duty) and physical damage was slight.

So do you think it wasn't actually working or they just didn't want to provide the tape? Did he report it to the police, what happened?

I've worked for a big Tesco superstore and the CCTV there was excellent. If customer services were in charge of it, then I dare say you'd have more luck getting info from it... but security run the CCTV, and not only are they flipping busy most of the time, their job is to focus on the protection of Tesco stock, they mustn't allow themselves to become distracted by other matters and take their eye off the ball. The distractions could be deliberate!

Alleging a car park incident has taken place is a good way to try and tie up the main monitoring station and at least a couple of staff, IF they entertained it. They could review it at a quiet time at a later date but... what do they get from it?

Security will cooperate with the police though. (Working relationship)

Not always the case with many supermarket ones, as they often have agreement that allow non-users can park there, as part of the planning permission.

All the disclaimers are to stop you claiming against the store. Not relating to anything that a 3rd party may do...

A good simple test is wait till a police car/plod is there then drive passed with no belt on and talking on a phone and see what happens....
Private land and there is nothing, public and you will get shafted.

Yes, you would be covered.

Also, in that instance, twat is pulling out into your path. He'd be at fault.
