I'm doing Mod 1 and Mod 2 DAS this month so starting to look for a bike for when I pass, I've been looking at gpz 500's and come across this one on Ebay, Question is does the price seem fair its had loads of things replaced on it but would like your advice please,

Also Is anyone near Neath who could pop over and give it a good look over for me please??

Whats your budget?

Bike looks ok from the pics but the mileage would put me off a little.

For around £1200 to £1500 you would get a nice '01 to '03 fazer / hornet / bandit etc which I think you would enjoy more.

Looks a decent bike. It's possibly priced a little high, but then he has just spent a load of money on it and with summer coming bike prices often rise a bit.

I just want something for 1 year then I'll upgrade, I know £800 (Is max I want to spend) is alot that's why I posted here but he's just spent a fair bit on the bike from the sounds of it, plus he's offering delivery that could save me the best part of £100 alone.

Fair doos, got to think of resale value when your done, it has a lot of miles on it now so may become difficult to sell when your done.

Yeah I get what your saying GRant but to be honest If I could sell it for £550-£600 in 12 month I'd be pretty happy just about getting experience and all that really...Probs get most of the money for the bike I have now...

I would look around I paid £700 for my 91 GPZ with just 12000 km on it and 12 months test and tax last year.
plenty about with less mileage but saying that they are supposed to be good for high miles

Far too much.

I got a 2001 CB500 with 44k on the clocks for only £650 from a dealer and it's probably in better condition than that. I'd try and get a 00' GPZ for £800 with 20k less miles.

That looks OK to me, I'd go for a look. 51,000 miles, fine seems a lot, but the bikes 18 years old! If the rest of that exhaust is in as good nick as the end can and it's running good then I think it's certainly worth a look.
Like people have said, broken you'd get back £300 for the exhaust and fairings alone without too much trouble I reckon. Or sell on as a runner for £500 in a year.
But, pictures can be deceptive! The lowered thing is odd too - they only have like 4" ground clearance to start with... Confused

It's right at the top-end of the price range. Though it does look very pretty and quite well cared for it might be a good tart-up job (look at the tank and the ill-fitting bellypan) and it still has more than 50,000 miles and 15 years of use, so if you do go and look at it pay very close attention to stuff like swing-arm bushes coz they can get expensive to replace if it fails the MOT.

I'd tread warily around that one, got alarm bells ringing. Reason for selling is weak too doesn't ring true.

It's not an outrageous price, but it's not a bargain either.

Treat the offer to deliver with 250 miles with great suspicion. It's very easy to type, and he might even mean it now, but actually delivering on the delivery might be a different issue.
