Try using the search function and enter "which helmet". You'll get all the answers you ever wanted. In fact, click here and it's already done for you. A quick snippet of the results:

The over-riding opinion on which helmet is best is the one that fits you. An £80 well fitting lid will offer much more protection than an £800 ill-fitting lid.
Personally I have a shoei shaped head, so I own a shoei helmet. If I'm brutally honest, I can think of much better things to have spent £270 on, but you cannot afford to skimp when it comes to head protection.
My advice, get down your local bike shop, try on every lid in the place. Narrow it down to the ones that fit and try each of those on for at least 15 minutes whilst wandering around the shop. If it's going to cause discomfort, you can usually tell in that time. I've done that twice now and yes I felt like a berk walking around HG for 15 minutes in a lid, but it has resulted in me owning two very comfortable, well fitting helmets.
As for spada as a brand, I had some spada enforcer gloves and they felt well made. No experience with their helmets though. ____________________ 1977 Honda CG125

As above , horses for courses, gotta try them on and see how well they fit.
I cant wear an AVG (i wanted a Rossi rep) so ended up sticking with my Shark. Speaking from personal experience they hold up well in a crash.
Google "sharp ratings helmet test" and you get a list of star rated lids which gives a good guide to which are better. Admittedly this should only be used as a guide along with the fit.
Good luck finding one you like ____________________ G reg Honda CB1 400; 06 Kawasaki ER6F abs, X reg Bandit 600sy. 1998 Cb600f Hornet. 08 zx6r current. |

Helmets are essentially a hollow polystyrene ball with a plastic or technobabble shell around them. They all do essentially the same job, and any helmet sold (legally) in the UK will (probably) do it to a reasonable level of safety, whether it's made in China, Italy or Xanadu.
The SHARP ratings provide an independent basis for comparing safety. Yes, there's dispute about the methodology (from expensive brands that score poorly) but I'll stress the 'independence' part. ACU Gold and (I believe) DOT and Snell are "pay to play", where the testing lab has a vested financial interest in passing the sample helmets provided to them. SHARP buy retail lids and are funded by our taxes.
Now that's out of the way, get thee to a helmet shop (Hein Gerick, J&S or a local dealer) and try on a range of helmets. Leave your preconceptions at the door and buy one that fits and is comfortable. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Same here I fancied the one with the donkey on it but it felt so tight across my forehead! HJC helmets fit me much better and more comfortable for my shape of head. ____________________ 899 Panigale, K7 GSXR 750 |
