CB400 and CB500 which do you like better?

I think CB500 is better bike than CB400. CB500 has better mpg than CB400, and cheaper, and richer bottom-middle torque.
CB400's tank range wasn't enough, it was only 18 litre * 19km/L =340km(210 miles). I think Our silly license system made 400cc class.
Yes CB400 may be faster than CB500 if thrashed but is it better choice for entry naked big bike? I wanted CB500 than CB400 if it was sold in Japan. What do you think of this?

Different bikes altogether - one is a small-capacity four that needs to be screamed, the other is a capable mid-range twin that was designed to be as robust as possible.

They are also valued quite differently, but my cash would be on the CB5.

I've ridden a CB400 Super Four.. loved it. Take it over a CB500 any day.

Horses for courses though, I like the noise and revvy nature of the CB400SF.

I currently own both a CB400SF and CB500.

Very similar on paper, but I prefer the 400 in every respect. One area the 400 excels is its build quality and component finish. A Japanese built Honda is far better put together than an Italian one.

currently own a cb400sf and i cant see how a cb500 can be any more bulletproof than this, it simply will not die

I have never ridden a cb500 but i imagine there a bit like an er5 or a gs500 and i have ridden both of those and they were dull with a capital D.

CB400sf is so far the most fun bike i have ever owned, the only downside i suppose is it screams along if used on motorways but it doesnt seem to mind

I've had a CB1 as a run around for the past 10 years and I love it, the engine thrives on being thrashed. It happily did 600 miles in a day travelling back through France. I find the CB500 competent but too dull.

the cb1 and cb400sf are 2 very different animals??
the cb1 with gear driven cams was a neigh on bomb proof design,
and the later vtec cb400sf's while being pretty unruly were a bit too peaky with no real need to be so,

if i had to have a cb400/500
id go for the super four frame and design with the cb1 motor,
ive never been a fan of the 500 twin
(although i love the suzuki gs500 twin and funnily the early cb500 four)

Out of the two, i'd much rather have the CB400 Super Four - they're gorgeous bikes! I'v seen some really nice ones going around.
