I was looking at those dual sport helmets which are similar to motocross style. Do you think they would look OK being worn on a street/sports bike or would it look ridiculous?

This type of helmet on this bike?

I think you'd look like a chav, like those riding peds with those helmets. And that's a 125 so you'd fit in the same bracket.

Then again, it's your choice, do what you want.

This is one of my pet peeves... I hate seeing people wear dirt lids on sport bikes. There are plenty of nice Full Face helmets out there that are probably safer too, just look around - i'm sure you'll find something you like.

yes,

the idea isn't new, ARAI were doing a helmet called the DS long before the tour-x, and shoei's hornet isn't new, they were not imported here before

the idea with a DS helmet was that you had a really good helmet that you used during the week for commuting etc, then at the weekend you could fit a peak and remove the visor for riding motorcross or off roading, and you still had the same protection instead of buying two low quality helmets

so, on a sports/street bike remove the peak and fit a dark visor it will look fine!

I like it, i'd wear it.

I like lids with peaks, haters gonna hate Thumbs Up

I dont get why you'd remove the visor for off roading, surely stones and grit and shit is far more rife that way

helmet is helmet

I have

Shoei Xspirit

https://www.hellopro.co.uk/images/produit-2/9/3/0/helmet-brands-shoei-x-spirit-kagayama-tc-5-40039.jpg

I use on both the Yamaha R1 and the KTM 990SM

Hornet DS
https://www.roadbikebitz.com/images/products/helmets/2008_Shoei_Hornet_DS_Helmet_Black.jpg

I use this on the KTM 990 SM the peak catches the wind and fecks your neck pretty quick at high speeds.

these are mine,
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7154/6501080809_557136b443_z.jpg

i use them on the 125 supermoto but did buy a full face for the Honet, I prob will use the white MX helmet on shot sunny rides as they can keep the sun out of your eye balls with the peek. High speeds are not great with them as wind gets under the peek and tries to rip it from your face.

I use the Spada Sting on a GSXR750.

I look silly, I don't care. At 100+ it really catches the wind and you can feel it push your head back.

Well that looks like a clear result. Think I will go with a full face although I personally like the MX helmets. No point in spending money to become an object of ridicule.

can't see a peak being pleasant at any form of high speed. You'd also look a complete nobber on a sportsbike with one on.

I've been using an MX helmet on my bikes for the last few years and no one has told me to my face that I look stupid. I don't really care what people think though and it's my choice to wear what I want. I've taken into consideration the various safety aspects that people usually bring up with MX lids on the road and I've decided that I'm cool with it and it's what I want so screw everyone else.

Sucks in the rain a bit though.

In the early 80's is was actually very fashionable to ride a 'sports' bike with an mx helmet.

I wore one of these with an LC250 ... and I didnt look stupid ! Eh? Shocked Embarassed

MX lids are for motocross bikes, supermoto and adventure trail riders only - a sportsbike rider wearing one will look like a proper cock wart

What a wimpish attitude.

I wear what I want and don't give a toss what anyone thinks as I'm overtaking them Cool
