The old server-side spell check was removed because modern web browsers can now do this for you.

What about us poor sods who are stuck with IE7??

(It's a work thing, we can't install any add-ons either)

At home I use Chrome, but whilst at work I have no option.
(I could, of course, actually do some work whilst at work instead of browsing BCF, but I don't plan on breaking the habit of a lifetime for anyone - new server or not!)

^^^^ Similar thing for me.

I use AOL (I believe one of the most popular ISPs on the planet) as both my ISP and browser and they don't support a universal spell checker, because their browser is based on IE.

I'm probably one of the few, but I use the spell check facility on most of my posts, because I do actually care about decent spelling.

I find it somewhat disappointing that I might now be forced to download and use a different browser (something I've never had to do with any other forum I've been a member of) just because I like to spell things correctly Sad

https://tinyspell.numerit.com/

Use this at work, as the fault logging system has no spell checker. Works anywhere there's a text box, sits in the systray, you can add to the dictionary, change whether it beeps or not and alter the colour/size of error text. And it's free.

I can spell fine, but my forehead pointer sometimes slips.

Would it be such a big deal to re-install the spell check facility?
