Got a courtesy bike delivered to work the other day!

I expected a Bandit or ER6... ended up with a CBF1000!

I quite like the bike! I realise it's probably one of the slowest thousands you can get, but it seems like the power is just "on tap" as soon as I twist the throttle it goes, whereas with the CBR600 I had to wait until the higher revs.

My claim is going through the insurance now, thankfully I have a witness, the other guy was starting to get arsey once he knew the price - as predicted!

I was wondering - with this bike being fuel injected, will it be able to take advantage of the higher RON fuels like V Power?

Just checking: are you absolutely sure who's going to end up paying for that hire bike you're on?

Well they told me even if it doesn't go in my favour I won't be liable for it - just the repairs of my bike.

I know what you're saying though...

Explaining the situation to my insurances and their sub-contracted claims handling company, they seem very confident that it's 100% the other driver's fault.

I do have texts from him pretty much admitting it as well as a witness. I don't know how admissible the first one is but I know what happened and so does he.

You might have to prove that you need a hire bike e.g theres no other way to get to work. If there is it needs to be a royal pain in the arse to go that way.

Hope you don't get shafted and end up paying for it Thumbs Up

I work 16 miles away from home, which is three buses away.

The buses are all run by different operators - taxi there costs £20 there and £20 back. Buses would take about two hours. Not worth doing the job for the amount of pay if I had to get a bus as well.

Also... it's a BUS. You know your life has reached rock bottom when you have to use buses to get around. ha ha. The public transport in Leeds isn't exactly reliable either.

You have to mitigate your ongoing losses - else they won't pay them. But in this case it sounds like a bike is indeed a necessity if the commute spans three buses & two hours.
No shame in getting a bus to work though - the shame lies with people who sit on their arses at home all day!

Ive heard that one before! They ended uo trying to stiff me with a £2500 bill for a hire bike after I was reversed over by a woman. They gave me the old 'it wont cost you anything no matter what' speech also. Just be VERY careful you dont end up with the bill.
