Just wondering, as today a very nice biker (many thanks to him)
waved at me and a gixxer ( I was chasing the gixxer, fun times Laughing Embarassed ) in a 'slow down' kind of way, and we did and as we popped over the crest of the hill there was a biker pulled over by the police getting a telling off, and further up the road another biker made some gesture pointing at his visor in a kind of "lifting it up" way, but not, as I had my irridium visor on I lifted it, and quietly passed the policemen, who also had a biker pulled over.
And later at the same lay by a white van man was flashing as he drove away from it at everyone coming over the hill, and again as I popped over the hill, a policeman and another biker pulled.
I'm just glad people warned me of them and wandered if the good folk ( Laughing Razz ) of BCF are just as courteous.

Yes I do, I quick flash of the headlight or a quick hand gestur does the trick Smile.

I have been flashed at many a time and slowed down, and if those riders read this thanks, especially the guy on the Z Thou that flashed yesterday on the cat and fiddle, though I did get pulled anyway.

Yup, had the pleasure of doing it today for the first time.. Police tend to have a "stake-out" on a road near my house thats recently had its speed limit changed from 40 to 30. Was coming very responsibly on my ped and saw a man in a light green jacket so i slowed down... (Turned out to be a council gardener but i just saw luminous green) came up past a side road and there sat a nice police car -

Hahaha, if it werent for me being stupid i could have been fined.. Err, no, wait, i was riding responsibly Cool

I give a variety of signals ranging from hand held out sideways palm down (indicating general police presence), through a double flash (indicating a speed camera ahead) to a frantic strobing of headlights with thumbs down and pointing wildly at the side of the road/flyover/sliproad (to indicate you should really have hit the brakes about two seconds ago).

If I wave, it means I have not seen any police presence and the road ahead is as clear as you would expect it to be for the conditions.

Got pulled for doing 68MPH in a 50 Zone, though I admitted to it and the policeman being nice gave me a warning, and sent me on my way Smile.

Bloody thing is he was hiding behind a hedgerow completely out of view, even though the guy on Z Thou flashed me I didn't slow down in time! Sad

There is a speed trap near the business park down here, whenever it is active and I see a biker heading in the opposite direction, I swirl my finger on top of my helmet, as in a siren, they give me a thumbs up and slow down. So I am glad I have been of use to some people. Very Happy

I do try to warn other road users if there is a speed trap or similar, have had been saved from being caught a few times thanks to other people warning me, not always bikes. Was going along the M3 in the small hours of the morning and was pushing the speed limit just a bit and got flashed by a car going the other way, and up ahead was a cop car sitting and waiting Shocked.

Kryptix, if you try to warn someone and they just think" bleh, it's a ped lets just ignore them" then it's their own fault for being stupid if they get caught Smile.

Yes. Usually give the slow down wave or a circling finger or both if they don't get it.

I will always try to warn and make myself clear as to what I'm warning about....

Usually, it's just a "slow down", palm down wave. Or in the car, I will flash my lights. I do this whether there is a policeman or something that they will be approaching that could be dangerous (i.e. a horse having a tantrum or an accident etc).

I usually give a big thumb down as a warning Thumbs Down

I don't know if I've ever received one though. Confused

Worth mentioning that people can get prosecuted for obstructing the police for giving warnings. Neutral

If I've got time I flash my light and give a big thumbs down if I see another biker coming towards me and I've been thanked a few times which is a good feeling knowing you're potentially saving someones else's licence!

I also do the same when I'm in my truck to warn other trucks of a hazard or speed traps etc,CB radios used to great for that but I haven't used one for years,I think they are all but dead now anyway,10-4 Laughing

I tend to flash other road users ... doesn't matter if car or bikes.

I like to think that I will carry on doing as I will be riding the bike thought I guess that at the beginning I will be concentrating on the riding ... hence may not do it to start with!
