Ha ha, i know a bit about them!
Mines a pretty good average of what a tuned one puts out, 50 odd hp on a dynapro dyno, it gets mullered on the longer tracks down the straights by everything 600cc and over, the corner speed makes up for it on the shorter tracks, a 33hp one would be pretty awful I would think, certainly they aren't the easiest bike to restrict, and decent ones are getting expensive now To build one to YPM spec can swallow a good couple of grand as well, not a cheap bike any more unfortunatly
Don't discount the RS125 Aprillia, the same applies for strightline speed, some of the superteens prove pretty difficult to get past though, and you can carry an awful lot of speed through the corners, nice little bike and the race ones are putting out near on 33hp, weigh bugger all as well.
As far as i know, most trackday companies won't accept a restricted licence anyway
Proper GP125's are a different thing altogether, I couldn't catch one last year at cadwell testing on the LC, it just went away from me and carried so much into the corners. I'd love a go on one, RS250 even more so, but I doubt I have the talent or bravery to get the best out of one! ____________________ RD350LC/YPVS Race Bike and enough bits to start another one! - RD350YPVS Race Bike - TZR250 Race Bike - ZX9R - ZZR1400 project - DRZ400SM - RD400 - TS100 - TY250 - More info @ www.waveracing.co.uk or www.ypmrc.co.uk |

Yeah, I had a go on a CB-1 this weekend ( instantly sold ) so now I have a CB-1 with a good drive system, engine and a wider track day tyres already fitted, a bit tatty as far is it looks but it feels solid and starts first time every-time.
it makes about 52 Bhp at 10,000 RPM
I sure hope that's got enough kick for the track? as I wouldn't tell a lie when saying I feel slightly intimidated pulling back the throttle on that thing. Mind you only managed to take it out twice so far.

All bikes will feel fast after a 125.
However, the 'wider trackday tyres' might actually ruin the handling, not to mention rub on the swinging arm and mudguard. I'd consider swapping them for standard sizes if I were you. I'm sure you can get sticky rubber in original sizes, so there's no point going for wide tyres. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |

Yep, not mine. Still not 100% sure I want to sell it.
The standard tyre is 140 at the back...BT45s or nothing really. If you go up to 150 you can get radials like Diablos quite cheap which are ok for the road. Race scrubs can be found as they're the size used on RS125s...I have Power Ones on there and it handles better than the previous size tyres (although these tyres are obviously a lot grippier than the shitty bias plys the bike came on). Can't remember about the front but 150s are the way to go on the rear.
The CB-1 is easily quick enough for novice and intermediate if you can get the best out of it. You just need to hang off like an ape to keep the pegs off the ground. You'd probably be a rolling road block in the fast group although I haven't had the balls to try that on it yet. Maybe one day if I break the ZX6R after I'm already booked in I'll have to ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

They do make a lovely sound...I like the higher pitch engine note of 400s anyway plus you have the lovely cam gear train whine too
They really are great little bikes...I really want to keep mine but it just doesn't get used. I'd love to get another CBR400RR but they're way overpriced compared to 600s and they're not really quick enough for the track. Perfect road bike power wise imo though. ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |
