Thanks Sidewinder, manage to clean yours in the end?
Well my to do list, got what I could done:
MOT CBR - done
MOT Duc
MOT XR - done
Tax CBR - done
Tax Duc
Tax XR - done
Clean Duc
Fit HID's to CBR - done
Air filter change - done
Collect some parts from Honda - done
Attach a tool kit to the Honda frame securly
Got to MOT place and there was 5 bikes before me...20 mins a go, so couldn't get 3 bikes done, just did the two.
I then went to Honda, replaced a mirror on the XR, couple of screws and found the previous owner had fitted a optimate lead, result!
Come Sunday, I changed the air filter on the CBR (anyone ever have problem with wrong size or not perfect fit?)
I then, added my HID kit from when I went to the eXcel show, very happy with the result:

https://img820.imageshack.us/img820/8919/img1094qy.jpg
https://img839.imageshack.us/img839/8944/img1096ir.jpg
The whole kit was plug and play so was easy, only hard bit if anything was routing the cables and securing some of the components. ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

Hehe, cheers, I learn't the hard way about looking after the chain (sprocket teeth went flying), now I check it couple times a week, keep clean and lubed.
Yeah just a bit, hopefully not too bright
The aim is correct so hopefully won't be blinding anyone! ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

What wattage is that HID kit?
I got the 35w 4300k H4's for my honda, it had some dominator headlights or some shit on it.
Managed to aim mine perfectly, through luck more than anything! Never got flashed once and used to commute in the dark regularly.
Make such a difference, fantastic bit of kit and I'll certainly be getting them again ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010. Restriction ended 13/09/2012.

^^ Missed your reply Dom, not sure on wattage, but been very good investment!
I'm turning this page into a bit of a project now as I slowly want to make things better on the bike.
First choice was to get the wheels powdercoated as they were flaking away and generally didn't have so much shine any more. It was £40 per wheel, then £30 bearings, about £10 seals IIRC, tyres on/off about £15 total.
Before:
https://img607.imageshack.us/img607/6290/img1235y.jpg
https://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7183/img1236vz.jpg
https://img515.imageshack.us/img515/2592/img1238pr.jpg
After:
https://img526.imageshack.us/img526/362/img1685r.jpg
https://img407.imageshack.us/img407/6248/img1686u.jpg
https://img827.imageshack.us/img827/5407/img1687s.jpg
Next step which wasn't mentioned in previous posts was I was unlucky to have 2 accidents in 2011, one in November, one in December, both non fault SMIDSYs.
This was the accident damage:
https://img20.imageshack.us/img20/6776/img0654nf.jpg
https://img844.imageshack.us/img844/6698/img0656gp.jpg
https://img534.imageshack.us/img534/8284/img0858ul.jpg
https://img825.imageshack.us/img825/5272/img0855nb.jpg
It's been like that till recent when I've decided to give it a bit of a revamp. The RnG protectors were replaced. These are the pictures after touch up paint was used (the touch up paint was from 1970s where you could buy it with your bike )
https://img339.imageshack.us/img339/1581/img1681op.jpg
https://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5522/img1682yl.jpg
https://img7.imageshack.us/img7/931/img1683tw.jpg
https://img31.imageshack.us/img31/6818/img1684ak.jpg
Happy with the outcome, a lot better than what it was without replacing the panels.
Next step was the rear numberplate holder. From David Silver Spares it's about £60 to replace as it's not just the mudguard it's a very big unit which houses bits under the seat. For now I wanted to tidy it up a bit then future may replace it. Here's a before picture:
https://img69.imageshack.us/img69/6002/img1677zc.jpg
Here's the result:
https://img845.imageshack.us/img845/3959/img1679d.jpg
I'm beginning to make a list of what I want to do next, in no particular order:
Repaint the generator cover as it's flaking away.
Repair side panel which has snapped in half.
Replace chain and sprockets.
Get some white touch up paint for few bits.
More to come so watch this space! ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

Well thought I'd update this now I've got a bit of time to tinker with the bikes. Had to rebuild the XR 125 and have done about 550 miles now since rebuild
Also had a hose going from the waterpump to the engine split so I replaced that yesterday with new clips. Horrible job to try and get the hose to go on the pipes, but it's done now and that also meant the coolant change is off the list.
CBR is now going to be renovated and serviced whilst I'm using the XR daily. Here is my 'to do list'
Replace split hose - done
Coolant change - done
Replace spark plugs with iridium - done
Oil and filter change - ordered and received bits needed
Valve clearances - to do
Replace secondary air filter - need to order
Pay attention to subframe and spray
Major degrease and clean all over - once everything done
Adjust, clean and lube chain - after clean
Degrease panels
ACF50 parts of bike
I started by stripping the bike to a stage where I could work on and to show how dirty it is (it's used all weather as my commuter)

https://imageshack.us/a/img694/6660/img2367hm.jpg
Here's pics of the old spark plugs, seems they are ok, bit rich if anything but nothing to worry about, just replacing with iridium
https://imageshack.us/a/img28/5314/img2375ui.jpg
https://imageshack.us/a/img706/7789/img2376fe.jpg
Here is a comparison of old vs new, alongside the Honda tool, couldn't imagine attempting the job without it!
https://imageshack.us/a/img841/6716/img2377gd.jpg
Here is the secondary air filter which was half there and just disintegrated in my hand (wouldn't have checked if it wasn't after seeing StevenF's project!)
https://imageshack.us/a/img248/3858/img2378ez.jpg
Here is something I usually do now to show not only what the bolts are for but where they go on the panels, parts etc:
https://imageshack.us/a/img35/5714/img2379sh.jpg
https://imageshack.us/a/img5/9291/img2380m.jpg
Finished for today, tucked up next to the Duc:
https://imageshack.us/a/img600/58/img2381h.jpg
Plan now is to order the parts I need to make a start on the valve clearances next weekend.
If I get time I can start doing other bits on the to do list also.
Trust me, I will get it clean, check out the pics on the first post or my other thread mentioned. ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

I use this:
https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/product_images/castrol_chain-cleaner.jpg
Always comes up well with it, then use Castrol Lube on it. I know you can use cheaper stuff but I'm happy to pay it if it comes out that well with not much effort. ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |

Last update for a while. So from last weeks to do list:
> Degrease and clean all panels - done
> Clean front wheel/forks area - forks done, leaving wheel due to it gon rain!
> Fit new rocker cover gasket and put bike back together - done
> Oil and filter change - done
> ACF 50 parts - done
> MOT - next weekend
First off I took the old gasket off the rocker cover and replaced with a new one using sealant.
Very fiddly getting it on there and it staying then manoeuvring the rocker cover to fit back on.
Did all bolts up, sparkplugs tightened then put air box back on and tank. Started up first time no leaks or problems
Then I began to degrease all the panels and clean them up. Started doing the front forks then realised that I may as well not do a major clean up as I'll be using the bike tomorrow and it's going to get filthy again!
Oil and filter change done also.
ACF'd a couple of bits, but the spraying I've decided to leave till the summer.
Got to MOT all 3 bikes next weekend
Couple of pics from today, bike looking a lot more fresher than when I first started.
