Sorry for another thread but I think it would be hard to ask this in my existing thread and get an answer as people have read it and some may not see the comment further down the page Very Happy.

Anyway, to my understanding speedfight 100ccs are not restricted but after talking to a few people at uni and after googling it ive found multiple sources that are saying there is a washer near the drive belt and some other places are saying there is other restrictions.

Can anyone confirm this? I mean this is a forum mostly full of bike experts who will of migrated from a scooter at some point so if anyone will know its one of you guys.

It just seems like its a bit of a myth as some people are like yes there is some are like no theres not and some are unsure im just really really confused.

That washer you're talking about is the spacer on the variator, they're on stock 50cc speedfights but not 100cc, there is also a restriction on the exhaust of some 50cc speedfight models but again not on the 100cc, if there are any restrictions on your bike then they would have been put there by the previous owner.

Nah really, just sell it - it wont do more than it does without some serious £££ spent on it.

And even then not for very long!

The 100cc's aren't restricted as they don't produce enough BHP to even get near the learner legal limit. It's only 50's that are restricted.

Well, that's not technically true, there's probably an electronic 'restriction' (rev limiter) in the CDI but you'll never get anywhere near it.

Just sell the thing, do your test and get a proper bike if you want to go faster then 50, and that's an indicated 50 (probably more like 45 ish).

The only real restriction on this bike is that it uses the same size carb as the 50cc's, im 16st and with a pillion at 10st i still get up to 55mph, when was the last time you replaced the drive belt? because even a de-restricted 50cc speedy gets around 45.

I was running round for a year with a stock exhaust hanging off. currently it has no exhaust pending a sport exhaust tomorrow or the day after.

The drive belt hasnt been replaced at all by me im guessing I should change it?

Any other minor things I can do. Im not looking to spend lots im just looking for things I should replace anyway as I want to give it a good cleanup and replace the consumable items with better ones.

found out when I ordered a leo vinci for a customers bike and had to remove the french market restriction

So I think it's safe to assume that your belt has 26k on it, this would definitely reduce your overall top speed. My friends speedy, the one that hits 62mph on gps has 24k on his and its gone through 4 belts in its life. and 1 set of new roller weights, same weight.

I fitted my endy exhaust today. Its much better my dodgy exhaust was giving like 45-50 this is giving 50-55 and i took it on a flat duel carriage way after about 1 minute solid it got up to 57mph.

This is just with an exhaust. Im not saying I got a 10mph bonus because of this exhaust im saying the fact my old exhaust was knackered and ive now got this I can tell.

It feels smoother and everything and gets to 50 fairly fast.

I removed the air filter snorkle and my new air filter is on its way.

I also ordered a new drive belt as I figure its worth changing.

I cant get another bike as I simply cant afford it so speedy is my ride for another year or two to be honest (im 19 in a few weeks).

**********

Can you guys tell me the best rollers and jets to get? Im mainly wanting a higher top speed but dont want acceleration to be to slow so im guessing id want a heavier roller weight.

In regards to jets I dont know what I need so if you guys can offer some direction thatd be great.

Cheers.

*sigh*

I told you not to ride it before up-jetting. You're lucky it didn't seize.

Why the hell are you fitting an open air filter? You have absolutely no need for one. All you'll be doing is decreasing performance and increasing fuel consumption because that will require a considerably larger main jet.

With regards to jetting im afraid its trail and error. Work out what your current jet is (It'll be stamped on the top) and buy a box of jets. Then work your way up until your plug turns out a nice colour. (If you don't know what this means, you need to look at plug chops).

With regards to the rollers again its trial and error but if its running ok with the current ones then theres no point in changing them. Rollers don't particularly affect speed in any way unless they're completely the wrong size or weight. Rollers simply set the rate at which the bike moves up through the gears.

People often make the mistake of thinking heavy rollers give you more top end speed and light rollers give you better acceleration. This is somewhat true as lighter rollers will make your bike rev higher thus giving quicker acceleration. Heavier rollers simply put the gearbox into top gear far too soon and you end up stuck in the top gear at 20mph until you crawl up the revs into the power band.

Way to respond to all my points.

No, im not sure it will seize, but I can almost guarantee its running lean and thats not good. No offence intended, but your uncle sounds like a bit of a pillock. I don't think he understands how two strokes work, and if he thinks he does then he needs to read up.

lol all good mate hes just speaking from experience on motorbikes lol.

I just want my speedy to work fine.

Would this work? I will get the jet changed asap. I dont need to go far on my speedy for now. surely it will be fine for maybe 2 miles each way? once at like 9am and once at like 5pm?.

Should I get this jet kit? would it be suitable? I have no idea what the brand is but all the jets on ebay are this same brand.

When you see a scooter with a sports exhaust, 99% of the time that kid is running the same jet size, even I did this before I knew better, I clocked 25k miles like this so you should be fine, I may be wrong but I think the stock main jet in most sf100 is 90, so that kit should be fine, just go up a size each plug chop until you find the right colour.

lol yeah thats why I asked you guys as use know what your talking about. To be honest though mate im going to be just keeping the speedfight and exhaust ill have to rejet.

I ordered some 90-108. I asked a scooter mechanic guy about it today near where I work and he said to just up it by about 4-5 and have a play to see if its fine and like you guys said change it accordingly if its not right.

Ill probably be selling the speedy in just over a year and use it for commuting really. 65 is not a must for me I was mainly asking as if it was possible I of course may as well do it if not its no biggie.

Thanks for all the help though, I really appreciate it.
