Devestated (Out of hospital at home on the mend.)

Sorry if this sounds like absolute drivvel or nonesense, but i'm really upset and in total shock.

My best mate, has had a horric bike accident tonight, after misjudging a corner at what I suspect to be over 100mph siding well over 50m on his face then hitting the grass verge and being thrown into the air and through a hedge. He had to drag himself outthe feild and lay there waving his phone in the air trying to flag down a car until one stopped.

I got a call whilst waiting for him where we had arranged.
Rushed to the scene, and saw him laid on his back in a complete mess, gear torn to shreads unable to move or breath properly. With his bike a small distance away pouring petrol out.

MAnaged to pick his bike up and get it safe, whilst he was just laid there not complaining about pain but unable to move at all.

The worst part about it was having to phone his mum to tell her he was in a bad way. Then telling her to wait at home, until I called her again to say he was on his way to hospital. The sound of her voice when she knew it was me calling off his phone.

Can't stop shaking, in total shock. His bike is ok other than missing the front fairings, smashed exhaust and both brake levers.

Only really hit me tonight when he told me to gethis bike out of there, and get it secure before making it legal.

Really questioning wether to ride again or not right now.
Had plenty of crashes, lost a fair few mates, but never had to se one laid on the side of the road unable to move, and possible ruined his life at 22. Then had to phone their mum totell them the bad news.

I'll get pictures of his bike tomorrow.

Can anyone tell me how fast he must have been going to have slide over 50m on his face, then after hitting the grass verge getting catapulted up and through a hedge by about 10m.

I have his bike at my house now.
Can say that the front brakes are locked on, no idea why but every time you roll of the throttle it wants to do a stoppie.

Hope your friend gets better - on the plus side if he's capable of worrying about his bike and asking you to shift it, it probably isn't as bad as it looks.

A cursory googling and glance over some studies seems to show that about 50mph can see you sliding 130-140 feet, 50m is about 160 foot, so probably in the ballpark of 60-70mph would do it with the right conditions? really that's pretty much a guess though as it's impossible to even give a rough estimate for a specific accident without an awful lot more detail.
