How Reliable Are Hyosung?

I have seen a few topic about this but all seem too be a few years old so I hope I'm not going over old ground.

I'm after a bike to replace my honda cbf125 for getting me around town and to and from work but only having 11bhp is driving me mad on 60mph roads.

I've been looking at a hyosung 250 but I have got mixe reviews on how reliable some have said its better than people give them credit for and others have said run away.

I was just after some views on people that run these day too day as I dont want to have a bike thats in bits everyweekend

Forget what others on here say, they mostly know what they were like before.

Get over to www.korider.com and ask them, they know what the problems are and how to they are to own.

And ignor what 99% of people on here say, since they have only ever seen picture and read the horror stories and think they are Chinese

The problem with going to korider, is that the people still there are the lucky ones.

To be honest the last place to go to get a balanced view is a make specific forum.

Go there and listen hear, and else where and don't just listen to the shoutiest bloke.

Far as I know Stigger, Korider is the lease biased forum, i've ever been on. The member there post all the problems and others help them out by saying if they have had the same and or not.

And then give the rep of how long it took for the parts to come.

Never seen another forum like it where members can freely slate the brand they are part of, and not get banned.

Besides most of the mods don't ride Hyo anymore.

Back on topic *cough*

A workmate had one (sold it on because he was skint rather than any fault of the bike), it had a few stupid little quirks but the only thing that stood out to me was that some of the bolts and adjusters were made of rather soft cheese. Beyond that it sounded nice and didn't give him any hassle that I was aware of. Did strike me as a tad overvalued though, that one changed for more than I'd have expected.

I'll +1 the quality of the finish or lack thereof as well, Jake's wasn't rusting as such, but the paint on the frame was pretty iffy at best. GS500 frame, GS500 paint I guess, get the ACF50 out if you intend on buying

Had no issues with my 125, once I'd sold it it got less love than it did from me and ended up a state.

Can't say I'd get one over other bikes, but also wouldn't shy away from one if the price was right to be honest.

Korea has a very advanced motor industry.

Hyosung made parts to Japanese quality under conract, so there is no doubt that they are capable.

Looking arond a Korean auto manufactuering you've got the likes of hyundai who offered 5 years warrenty on their vehicles when they entered the UK on mass. Then Kia who offer 7 years warrenty on all new vehicles. Then theres the likes of Proton/Lotus

So the ability and attention to detail is certainly there.

i've heard good and bad about the brand, but by the same token i've also heard good and bad about EVERY brand - you get good examples and bad examples of every bike, it is just sometimes more prevelant in the 'budget' bike market.

Well I bought a GT250 r earlier this year , and so far so good

Nothing on mine appears to made of cheese.
It starts first time every time.
No wobbly handling.
Quick enough (for a four-stroke 250).
does`nt drink to much petrol .
A proper sized bike.

On the down side : forget it if you are a midget (luckily for me I`m 6`4").

Would I by another? I think I would
