So the previous owner of my bike sprayed my fuel tank orange its originally a clear fuel tank, and now the paint is lifting wich im asuming is because of the vapours seeping through the plastics... and im wondering is it possible to use somthing like Nitromors ? Or will it damage the tank i dont really wanna sand it and scuff the clearness

Thanks any help will be appreciated Razz

If it's a plastic tank and the correct primer wasn't used, when it was painted, the paint will come off with a power washer.
I bought a stolen/recovered bike that had been sprayed black, directly onto the plastics, it took about 15 minutes of power washing to remove the paint.

How much would it cost to get a fuel tank painted correctly btw?

I'm sure I heard somebody say it has implications for the warranty/insurance if you paint it but it sounds wrong.

If petrol is causing it to come off, you could try using petrol as the tank should be ok with that.

yeah, it's definitely a bonus. I had a clear tank on my 520 and it was handy, you can see every last drop.

Try white spirits or paint thinners. The plastic is already chemical resistant to cope with the fuel. Nitromors might be a bit extreme.
