A set of "no name" headstock bearings from some of Kony's kids for 20quid

OR

A set of Koyo bearings for £40.

Well?

Neither. Buy some real well made bearings.

FAG or SKF. Ive used Koyo in the not too distant past for headstock bearings, had to replace them again within 6 months. Never had a problem With SKF Or FAG.

also, if you are replacing bearings, go for the fully sealed units as opposed to the shit OE ones that let all the shit of the day in.

Have you tried Marksman Industrial? I'm prety sure I got a Koyo headrace kit including seals for around £22 last year.

I've never actually had to buy bearings for a bike, but use very high precision bearings at work, we don't like Koyo at all, SKF or FAG are good. NSK are our preferred make, but I don't know if NSK make the appropriate sizes needed.

I guess that doesn't really help other than to maybe reinforce what others have said.
