Sport CDI

Does a sports CDI do anything? I know it has no rev limiter but is this worth it compared to the stock CDI unit?.

I know this thread is going to wake some members from their slumber and make them rage but its a genuine question as i have no idea .

Basically I can get a sport cdi for it for only 8 pound with no rev limiter but no imobilser which isnt a problem though as I have the cyclone alarm for it meaning i can connect that up giving me an imobiliser anyway + the engine cut with a button.

I have a speedfight 2 100cc by the way.

Any advice would be great.

Dont buy a cheap CDI... If you're after a good cdi, get one from Adrenalin Pedstop or PM tuning...
Cheap CDI's can ruin your engine...

from what i understand and remember from thinking of changing the CDI for my dads bike (i may be wrong) they normally remove the rev limiter which has more cons than pros with things like the engine over revving when downshifting and risking you shaggin the engine, i think they increase the air/fuel mix if the engines fuel injected.

I think theres more pro's but cant remember, also not sure if im even right (someone correct me?)

But one definite no-no is the cheap Chinese CDI's that'll bring your engine to a quick death (i know that for sure)

From my understanding a "racing" CDI alters the ignition timing curve and/or the rev limit. I would advise reading up on two stroke engine tuning theory, or general two stroke engine theory/mechanics, and using google once in a while.

I genuinely give up.
