Still searching for a second bike (reasons and usage are unimportant at this point) I'd like to know what you think is the better vehicle given the points below.

Both bikes are roughly £3700

Suzuki GSXR600 K7
Honda CBR600RR RR8 (09 plate)

GSXR - 8k miles
CBR - 18k

Both in very good order, recently serviced and up to date with full reputable service stamps, by that I'm assuming that major services would have been carried out.

Neither look like they're been tracked, but the GSXR has some sticky residue on the screen in a placed manor, which makes me think that maybe it has had a velcro number plate attached.

The CBR has a resprayed front fender (mudguard) and some slight discolouration on the rear fairing behind the pillion seat as well as a slight crack. Nothing major, just a niggle...and may easily be replaced.

The Honda seems a better buy by a long way, but we're so conditioned to believe anything into 5 figures is high by daft dealerships!

I assume the Honda will be a slightly better build quality, but is there anything untoward I should know about either machine? eg, fork springs on the CBR must be nearly on the way out - anything else soon need doing? (CBR btw has had value clearances done last service)

Love to hear from anyone with high'er' mileage CBR's and their experiences.

I understand that you may think a ZX6R or A N other bike would be better value, but these are my options for a valid reason.

Cheers in advance...

Why do you need a second bike? What does your first bike not do that the second will?

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Have you rode either of them?
As they felt very different to me when i test rode them altho i rode older models.
Buy whichever you like the feel of not which is the best deal. If its for track use spend the money and get the suspension sorted, its totally worth it.

The reason I've not listed the why's and reasons, is because I'd like opinions on these two. I need a second bike, and one of these two is probably going to be it....I'm just a bit nervous of 18k, and I'm not sure it's for a valid reason.

Having owned older Suzuki's, I worry about build quality, and the more I think about it, I've never seen so many bits of R&G which does make me think that maybe it's lived life on a track....or a very cautious owner....

Not really arsed about riding style/comfort/performance - just prefer to know if there is anything I should be concerned about.

yes, ridden both and both are fine. They do the job.

18k does sound a lot for the age, I'm only on 10k on a K7 57 plate.

I don't have many complaints, when you ride the bike at the speeds they were designed for they're fine. RR is really nimble, really light.

If you have a sports bike currently... a 600 too, don't buy another one.

Use your noggin, a 750 version of the GSXR is available and will give you a different experience.

I'd rather have a range in my garage than "theres my 600, theres my other 600...and my other 600" Get something that can rev just as high but doesn't actually need the revs to go anywhere Neutral

i'mwith Paddy on this one, get a GSXR 750, it's a good bit more midrange over the 600, yet still keeps the handling of the 600 due to sharing the same frame/parts/geometery.
