Have had a 600 now for what seems like forever and just seem's I need a change.

Just been up to CJ Ball Honda and Suzuki And they have a rather splendid looking finance offer on new Fireblades and Gsxr1000's.

How the hell do you choose!

All modern litre bikes look stunning and are alot better than what Iv got now so how do I pick i mean really.

I now walk to work so no commuting for me, take the missus out now and again and insurance isnt an issue.

so... Gsxr Fireblade R1 or Zx10.

Even thought about a naked bike but doesnt really look like my cup of tea.

99% of suggestions welcome

Buy a used litre twin sports? TL1000R or Honda SP1 or 2?

Must say though, if I was looking at litre bikes, I'd be inclined to go 05/06 GSXR1000. Having ridden one and then a 2011 R1... I'd still choose the GSXR Neutral

Ducati.

But then I would say that Laughing

In all honesty it's down to what you like, on the road the split seconds of how fast they are don't really matter. The new ZX-10 is pretty cool

I'd be looking at the BMW S1000RR quite closely. Thinking

The current (and last) Fireblade is a far better bike than the latest GSXR.

Isnt there something like £5000 difference between the 2012 blade and a 2012 Aprilia RSV4 APRC? Same-ish for the BMW?

Surely you test ride them all and buy the one you like?

Or is that too old fashioned?!

Im the liking the bmw on all fronts except its front its fuck ugly.

and I do like the rsv4 and its certainly a contender but 17k seems steep.

Ideally im looking around 10k

Iv been put well of buying brand new after seeing resale prices of modern litre bikes except R1's seem to hold some sort of value.

Going to have a look at a few ducatis on tuesday but this missus doesnt like the idea of the solo seat.

I think a few test rides is in order.

what many have said = Get your testrides in on all.

But, do you specifically want an Inline 4 Jap machine?
how about an RC8?
or if you don't mind naked look, how about an SV1000? that would be on my list if i was jumping up from 600cc.

For me, if I was going to splurge the cash on a new bike, it'd be:
BMWS1000RR. Seems to do everything as good or better than everyone else.
Though, then it may be above your budget, so have to be back to second hand probablY.

Would consider a Fireblade for that midrange and lightweight if that was my thing.

The new 1199 looks interesting, but a good chunk more money over the BMW S1000RR for a bit less weight, touch less power and more peakiness.

You can get a 1098 for 8k. They do come with a pillion seat but I have no idea how comfy it is but then again none of the others would be too comfy either

The Blade is probably the best for real road riding, more reliable and better built, not the best looking maybe and not a lot of toys but a great ride.

What do you mean last?

2008-2011. By current I mean the 'new' 2012 model.

Quite a few brand new 2009/2010 model RC8s about for £7500 (with 2012 registration). Is it worth spending twice that to have an RSV4/Panigale/S1000RR?

If it's twice the cost to have the RSV4/Panigale/S1000RR, it's all down to what you prefer to ride. I'd personally be more thoughtful with the cash, eg. Saying 'twice' gives you 14k, you could have a RC8 and buy an 848 to be greedy. lol
