Had a bit of a google search again.
Found this - https://www.fz1-forum.com/forum/gen-ii-how/6623-yamaha-gen-ii-lower-fairing-install-review.html
Hopefully it's helpful to you. Doesn't sound like it is *too* involved and difficult. Things on there that I expected (removing indys to attach to the fairing for example). Doesn't seem like the engine has to come out, though there is some fiddling with bolts it seems (it's described in the link).
Like I said, I'm no expert, but I can't see why this isn't a do-able job. And if it's what you wanna do, go for it

Yeah, I found the same place after I posted. The scariest bit is going to be drilling the existing fairing because that makes it a non-reversible job in a sense. But it's under the lights so I'll probably risk it.
The fairing the guy on that site has used has holes for the turn signals whereas the picture on Yamabits has the signals poking out the front on brackets. I'd prefer the latter to be honest as it makes removing the fairings a bit easier for oil changes etc.
What I don't want to find though is I've got to start removing engine bolts or oil pan bolts to remove the fairing. I'd like to know if the fairing mounts to brackets that fit at these places, or bolts straight in. |
