The fork lowers are a bit corroded like most cbrs that get used, not sure he says its v reg when the plate says s reg.

V reg means its been an insurance write off. Corrosion is nothing on the fork lowers, with time and patience you can polish them up. Don't let the insurance claim put you off either, on a fully faired old bike like that the smallest piece of cracked fairing will mean its written off.

The seller states no warranty, so if you to go for it id take someone knowledgable to go over it thoroughly and make sure you get no unwanted surprises.

Check the consumables (tyres, chain, sprockets, even fork seals) for wear as that cheap cbr in your price range could quickly need £400 sending on it.

Firstly, I have never heard of this before:

Secondly, given that the ad doesn't even agree with itself as to which year it was registered, I'd be a bit wary. A CBR6 with that mileage should be fine, but you'd need to see it.

Whatever you do, don't rush into buying anything. Be prepared to hang on a bit, if you have to.

Its a term they use a lot on places like auto trader with cars.

The term VCAR stands for Vehicle Condition Alert Register

Go with the one in original post, looks far better, yes its got some mileage, but its a proven high mileage bike. Sure someone got 250,000 or 500,000 out of their one. Thumbs Up

If you need someone to go to Cambridge and ride it back for you... throw me some petrol money and a few cans of energy drink/Mcdonalds and I'll go up there... its not that far you pansy Wink Laughing

The important bit you missed out was 'car'.

Only a total spazz would put 'V reg' when they actually meant 'VCAR reg', you'd be leaving yourself open to all sorts of problems.

With your budget (and im not trying to insult you, its the same money i spend on bikes too) don't get too hung up on particular models. Look for well maintained examples with history and sensible miles. I got my bandit with full service history and 28,000 miles with a few extras like an akrapovic can and spare set of wheels with tyres for 1k.

why not look at Bandits/Fazers/Sv's/Hornets etc. They will most defiantly be cheaper to insure and be a whole world away from your 125 in terms of performance, if not quite as focused as a sports bike.

Just my 2p anyway

Harry.

No it doesn't, it means it was made in 1999/2000.

Am I allowed to tell this guy to stop talking shit? Laughing

This is what I mean when I say about advice on the forum this Muppet could have put the OP off the bike based on bullshit.

Personally I wouldn't buy it because the flux capacitor is burnt out.

My god man, this is getting stupid.

You're looking for a CBR, then you liked a ninja, then you want another CBR that actually looks ok, then a pink one that is ancient and over price, now a GPZ and then a 600r. Jesus Christ.

Decide on a style of bike, go and sit on some, confirm your decision of style and shop around that. Don't narrow your selections down to a single area or model, life isn't that easy.

You also have people offering up good advice and even Paddy offering to get a sodding bike for you, but each time you come back with another suggestion. I know it's exciting getting your first big bike, and for me it was surprisingly easy, probably because I was lucky.

Not trying to be harsh, but please just calm down and think about this before you end up buying a dog that you don't even like riding.
