So, after this SMIDSY things didn't turn out too badly I guess Smile
Long and short, I got £320 for gear, £950 for my bike with ~£240 buy back on a Cat C. So £1000 near as dammit and my bike back which at the cost of a new BT45 on the rear (£105) went through it's MOT nicely today. So all in all, decent result. I recommend getting knocked over by AVIVA drivers if you have the choice! Thumbs Up

I have googled and searched BCF, but what do I need to do now? It's a bit confusing and conflicting. The insurance guy kindly held off declaring so I could get it from their collision garage, sort the tire and get the MOT. I haven't heard from their insurance, DVLA anyone yet. So anyone who's been through this before, what more will I need to do? Tell my insurers the bike was Cat-C'd? (they already know I was in a crash) Does the VIC apply to Cat-C bikes?

The real problem...
Her insurers gave me an '11 plate SV650s with ~1000 miles on for the last couple of weeks... I've never ridden anything so new! It's spoilt me for life, gonna have to sell the GPZ and get something hoonier! Laughing

You don't need a VIC check, so you've done all you need to do.

Has your insurance been cancelled?

As long as your insurers know that the bike is Cat C then there is nothing more you need to do. Be aware though that as the bike has effectively been written off and paid out on, any further claims on the bike, even if they are not your fault, may be less than the market price. That's what I was told when the ZX9 got written off, I've never had a problem insuring a Cat C or D bike, there is a obligation to tell whoever you sell it to though

Cool ta. No, my insurance hasn't been cancelled, but then I haven't told them I had my bike written off (DVLA don't know yet as far as I'm aware). I'll call and let them know and see what happens. Ta Thumbs Up

Not too bothered about the insurance value tbh, it wasn't much to begin with Very Happy Thinking of moving it on anyway - so that's interesting that I have to tell a buyer - wasn't aware of that, ta Thumbs Up Although I would anyway, as a) I'm not a twat and b) surely it'd come up on an HPI? Very Happy

Your insurers will only cancel your insurance if THEY pay out a total loss, and not all do that either.

As it's a cat C, so long as it's roadworthy you just ride it. You have to declare your accident when you re-insure.
