 |
|
Well, I got back from a ride up the peak district to notice my back tyre is down below the wear bumps.
It's a pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro. It's a great tyre for grip but it's lasted under 2500 miles on my striple and that includes running in. It's not as if I'm the the fastest rider around anyway. FFS, I could make my Busa tyres last longer than that!
So what can I put on that won't die withinn another 2000 miles and is compatible with the front, or should I bite the bullet, empty the wallet and change both for something harder wearing .
The other tyres my handbook reccomends are Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa, Bridgestone BT016, Dunlop Qualifier, Metzeler M3. I have never had any of those so I have no idea about them.
Any ideas tyre gurus! ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

If matching tyres are required in your head then just grab a pair of Angel STs or Pilot Road 2's.
These are the longest wearing tyres I have ever seen Pretty grippy also.
I currently run a Dunlop qualifier rr front and an Avon Viper Sport 2 rear...I don't recommend the Dunlop as the rear was canvassed in 1700 miles. The Avons people shy away from but I've had no issues since it was fitted, wet or dry.
I don't mind mixing tyres...I've gone through 4 rears since fitting the Qualifiers though, front has lasted from 29500miles > 8000 miles later |

Bridgestone S20, Metzeler M5, Sportsmart - my top 3 tyres of choice, also my last three tyres on my ZX10R too.
Out of the three:
S20 impressed me the most but I have limited wet and cold riding time on them so far.
Sportsmart, gave really good grip in wet and dry, good feedback, mileage seemed ok but I didnt get all the way down due to a puncture
M5's - outright dry grip was great, wet and cold I got a few slides while accelerating from stationary but fine when up to temp.
Remember that the tyres you mentioned in your OP are really the 'last gen' and these latest models usually offer a bit of a step up in performance (as things usually do over time) ____________________ https://bikechatter.net
