Who uses Autoglym or similar?

So I take a collection of the Z750 on Saturday, and I've been browsing the local halfrauds as its been 5 years since I had a bike and 3 years since I had a car, don't tend to polish the works can much!!

Just how many different polishes waxes and gismos can u buy these days!!!

Are Autoglym still a firm favourite amongst us auto enthusiasts as I'm gonna need a decent wax and polish for a starting point?!!

Anyone got any advice?? What are you using?!

I use autoglym shampoo to wash followed by poor boys black hole glaze and then wax with poor boys natty red paste (when I can be arsed). It lasts ages but for just a quick wash I just use the shampoo and nothing else.

I managed to nab my step dads cleaning stuff once, had Autoglym EVERYTHING, shampoo, alloy wheel cleaner, glass cleaner, rubber and vinyl care, super resin polish, instant show shine, and on a sunny day, if you take your time and get a bit 'anal' about it, using each one correctly, you can have a lovely looking bike at the end of it.
Some autosol metal polish also does a good job

99.9% of every wax that could ever be mentioned in this thread will be sillicone based.

If you 'really' want to put wax on your paintwork then do a search for a good carnauba wax & start using a proper wax that is used on proper vehicles.

Everything else just claims to be a wax but is really only a sillicone based paste that looks shiny when buffed.

Autoglym spray on hose off bike cleaner is the dogs nads, and is bettered only slightly by the much more expensive Harley Davidson S100.

You mean like this?! It's about £45 :o but halfrauds are doing BOGOF this weekend so could get me a good deal!!

I use collinite 476s as a wax polish. Wash the bike, a coat of Poorboys EX sealant then two coats of the collinite. Read up on them. It will cost about £25 for both and some cloths but they will last forever and you only need to do it once a year.

On the alloy wheels I use Poorboys wheel sealant. Better than most but you need to get at least two good coats on there.

For chrome I've found nothing works better than windolene glass cleaner. Most chrome polishes are abrasive and you end up with micro scratches.

In the cheap world Turtle wax is higher rated than autoglym.

SRP is shit hot as a filler, Dodo Juice Lime Prime is also a good filler and cleaner. The Autoglym degreaser I found to be outstanding. If they still have the motorcycle cleaning kit you can't really go wrong, it's really good value for money.

When were talking about SRP as a Filler, what defines the term filler? I mean I see polish as something you would use more than wax, correct? wax maybe twice a year?? but polish every week??

So what does this term "filler" mean, are we talking about something we use in between waxing??

Its been so long since ive been valeting that ive lost all knowledge with new principles and such...

If you have swirls in the paint work instead of correcting them with a machine polisher you can use SRP to fill the swirls so they aren't as visible. It really is good stuff, if you have the time and inclination to do it then go: wash, clay, SRP, glaze then wax. If you haven't got the time then wash, SRP and wax it. I personally wouldn't bother every week maybe once every 8 - 10 weeks for the full shebang.

Ok guys picked up the Super Resin Polish today and a custom wheel cleaner chemical for free, now just need to decide on a wax really to build up the layers!!

Did mine yesterday with some PTFE wax I got from Amazon for a tenner a couple of years ago for the car. It's the stuff car dealers try to charge peope £300 for when you buy a new motor. Really does put a rock hard seal on all your paintwork. I do need some coloured wax though, there's a few scratches that need addressing. As for Autoglym, i did all my plastics (undertray, plate hanger, indicators etc) with their Bumper Care polish. They were all bleached and grey. All black and shiny now! Never had a problem with Autoglym, although I did have major issues with the weather yesterday, bleedin' rain.
